Hello

Ok i need some honesty from you antec 1200 owners out there.

Having had the case for as long as you have, do you ever wish you went for a lian-li or silverstone instead?

Feel like your case lacks class and your getting bored of it?

Im planning an upgrade you see, and the antec 1200 ticks all of the boxes for me. Great airflow, great cable management potential with a bit of work, is big enough for future upgrdes/wc and looks pretty good. The reason for this thread is that becuase they have the same sort of design, i fear the same happening with the antec 1200 as with my antec 300 in that i start to get bored of it after a while and long for a more classy looking case such as a lian-li model.

The reason i dont just buy a lian-li is because although they look very nice, i think they lack airflow and cable management a little bit, particularly the ones i like the look of, and im very fussy when it comes to cable management so its kind of a must.

So antec 1200 owners, i know its personal prefrence really and abit of an odd question but what would you do?

thanks

In more or less the same boat as you, had the 300 for a few weeks now and although i think it's a terrific case for it's price bracket but i'm tempted to pick up a 1200 as i am considering crossfire in the near future and i think the 300 wouldn't be able to cope too well with the additional heat. I think the 1200 will offer far superior cooling due to it's size and fans, plus it has a lot of room for air circulation as long as the cables are tidied away with care
Positives for the 1200 have to be the size and possibilites for expansion, plus hopefully better cooling and better cable management. Negatives have to be the SIZE, as it's considerably taller than the 300 or 900 cases and potentially the noise. Decision's decison's:confused:

Had a long hard look at the HAF and the cooling in theory should be awesome i find the design quite off putting, too militaristic in looks, fine i suppose if your running around in a humvee!:D

The lian li's are are way too too expensive, i couldn't justify spending £200 plus on a case alone but if money is no object then i think lian li's or the silverstone TJ07 series would be my choice.
The 1200 seems great value for a superb air cooled case therefore i feel it would be a sensible choice for this reason alone.
At the end of the day i think we will all get bored with our cases at some point and there is always something new out there to tempt us to part with our hard earned cash, it just a case (no pun intended) of whether you feel you can justify the expense!

I found that with my Antec 900. Had it for over a year and in the end I now have a Lian-li pc-a17. Just as good with cooling, and looks better.

i have lian li and great airflow, no problem with cable management - all tidy in there ;). Completely unimpressed by Antecs and Coolermaster cases (at least Antec are cheaper than Coolermasters), good on paper and tick all the boxes, but quality build is just not anywhere close to Lian Li

PS also like the Silverstone TJ07 and Zalman

I'm very happy with my antec 1200, looks good, huge, great airflow.
I dont look at my case too much however, so I'm unlikely to get bored with anything. But performance wise, this case is supreme.

To give you an indication on how good the 1200 is! my HSF has given up the will to live a couple of days ago and while i await delivery of a replacement i am actually still using my pc on stock speeds with temps of 30-34 on basic usage like typing this post! I have the extra fan on the side also just to throw in even more!!! Like DF1986 said it is awesome!!!

The only criticism i have of the Antec 1200 is the pain of having to take the sides off to remove the air filters for cleaning.
Otherwise, more than happy with mine.

Not enough cable management?
Unless case just doesn't have space that requires only some exertion.

Barely anything militaristic in it... Everything designed for military has utilitarian design, not bling pong design!

don't be jealous and open that dusty wallet
A70/71 isn't even more expensive than overpriced 1200.

Its a stunning case very tall and large, plenty of space to work with inside but I noticed it was almost a bigger/taller version of my old Antec 900, one thing I noticed both the 1200/900 has is the graphic cards (long ones like 8800GTX+) there aint much space between the end and the hdd bays, I would have prefered a large gap but I guess in some ways if u got a 120mm fan right there its gonna provide excellent cooling too it since its closer, but a slight concern in case of longer cards !

Otherwise the 3 120mm blue fans on the front are silent and I loved the fan controllers on the front on each 3 fans. It would be a excellent case for cooling/and quiet use but not for silence fans.

Am looking towards the silverstone fotress

as my next case :)

get a Lian Li maybe then you will understand, OP was asking for better looking and classier case -> Lian Li are for sure

don't be jealous and open that dusty wallet

A few of my friends have lian li cases and i think the majority of them are over hyped and hideous, they dont look classy at all in my opinion apart from the Lian Li Armorsuit PC-P80B which i think looks cool, but each to their own.
