best cards for tri sli for gaming and folding ?

basically i fold 24/7, as well as gaming at 1920x1200.

However stalker runs fine maxed out at 1920x1200 @ ultra high everything on a single 192 260gtx. I want crysis next but im not sure how it will run.

Is this also the best combination for folding or would i see no difference running 3 8800gtx's (half the price) or even 8800GT's ?

Your 260gtx will run fine. Dont spend the extra cash keep it to a side.

if you have 1 260 192 already, would it not be better to pick up a second 1 as that version has been discontinued now, so you should get it at a good price, and i expect 2 x 260s would be very quick for games at high res

I'm not sure you can tri-SLI the GTX, atually - I think it was restricted to the 8800 Ultra.

Tril sli is poo anyway, just like quad crossfire, the drivers need work.

GTX and Ultra were the only 8 series cards capable of tri SLi

ive just figured out for folding i need to disable sli anyway.

now that means i dont need an sli motherboard ? just one with more than one pci-e slot ? do they all need to be x16 ?

I believe they do need to be x16
As x1 wont fit the x16 card but if you happened to have a X58 motherboard it would fit in a x4 slot.
