Top Firefox Extensions? **

These days the internet sucks with out the following additions:

Adblock plus with easylist subscription
CS lite (to block all cookies apart from what I allow)
No script
Greesemonkey (to sort out websites with crap style sheets)
Flashblock (because flash sucks 99% of the time)
Reload every (to keep sessions active)

Adblock Plus - To block adds
Blocksite - If an add gets through you can find out what domain its from and add it to this.
Downthemall - for downloading files
Exif Viewer - View exif info on pictures
Fireftp - ftp client

Adblock Plus - an absolute godsend, I don't understand how anybody can do without this(or something similar)

NoScript - can be a hassle if for any reason I have to redo my whitelist from scratch (new system last time) but I feel a lot safer with this on

British English Dictionary - pretty self explanatory

CustomizeGoogle - has a lot of options to customise Google the way I want it

Download Statusbar - just to keep things tidy really

Adblock Plus
All-in-one Mouse Gestures (must have for me)
Basics (adds a new tab button to the tab bar ... I know you can double click to get a new tab but I prefer having this)
British Dictionary
Download Statusbar
GMail Manager
Google Notebook
NoScript (although if you are setting Firefox for someone non-techsavvy then don't use this as it will break things and confuse them)
Sitebar Client
Translator
Fast Dial

Mine (to be added to later, when I remember what I've got on my other computer):

Adblock Plus
Speed Dial
Tab Mix Plus

OK, my revised list:

Add Bookmark Here - easy bookmarking
Copy Plain Text - really simple, but really useful too!
DownThemAll!
Linky - lets you open text as if it were a link
Opanda IExif - exif info for photos
Paste and Go 2 - paste and search in one hit
Print / Print Preview - adds more printing options / page setup
Remove Cookie(s) for Site - does what it says
Resurrect Pages - find what was there before the 404
Searchbar Autosizer - changes the searchbar size as you type
Speed Dial - multiple pages on a tab

These are the most useful ones I've got which haven't been mentioned too frequently above! I use a few more as well.

Of those, most of you will already know many of them. I think Speed Dial is really useful. I have it set to show 9 mini-pages on each of its tabs. The front page has my 9 most used pages, but I then have a tab for just news, a tab for weather, a tab for all the traffic reports covering my route home etc. All pages are set to periodically update.

I then only need to select a Speed Dial Tab to instantly have 9 mini-pages of info for any particular topic. So, when I'm about to go home - one or two clicks and I can see all the traffic reports and check my route etc.

I can't believe no-one else uses Drag and Drop Zone.

Basically, you select some text and then drag it onto either a search engine of your choice (you configure which ones appear where), or an action such copy, save link as. etc.

Highly recommended.

Does having loads of extensions slow your browser down at all??

Also has anyone ever used either of:

Hyperwords
All in One Sidebar

OSB

Tab mix plus
Tiny menu
customize google
fission
adblock plus
ie tab

And a few others but there the ones I couldn't surf without.

I don't use Firefox much nowadays, preferring to use Opera. Any sites that don't work well in Opera I go to Firefox for. So I mainly use FF as a dev browser so if I'm messing around with some hard-coded XHTML/CSS stuff I can use FF along with Opera and IE to see how things render across the browsers.

So my Firefox extensions are:
  • Adblock Plus
  • British English Dictionary
  • ColorfulTabs
  • CustomiseGoogle
  • DownloadHelper
  • DummyLipsum
  • Firebug
  • FlashGot
  • FxIF
  • InfoLister
  • LinkChecker
  • Live HTTP headers
  • NoScript
  • Update Notifier
  • Web Developer

Does having loads of extensions slow your browser down at all??
I think some of the bigger extensions can slow Firefox down when it loads but on a decent system you shouldn't really notice it at all.

Sidebar Autohide is very good too

move the cursor of the web page (i.e. slide it to the left) and the favorites show

slide it back right out of the bookmark section and it disappears, that's a real gift :p

Should be a launch button on your menu bar.

yeh, i got that and it does launch but in what appears to be its own app with a message to say that my browser does not support it running in the browser itself..

i didint know if it was because i was running 3.1beta and it could also run in the browser directly ?
