thats going to effect their tourism a lot.:D

Good, I went to Amsterdam a year back with friends. Some of the group decided to everywhere and see some of the city whereas other's just went to the cafe's all the time. Waste of money really if you ask me.

Depends what people are into i spose.

I think the cafes and bars are really relaxed, and a bit of a smoke and chill out with some friends is nice. Its not expensive to get there.

And hookers on a night are another bonus lol

Yeah it really spoils Amsterdam that you have a load of British druggies knocking around behaving in the usual British anti-social way. The areas of 'dam that aren't full of Brits are really nice.

I don't personally think it's a bad thing at all.

I do however praise the Dutch attitudes on many modern concerns: they aren't always as problematic as they might seem and for the Dutch, they aren't concerns at all. This is because of their open minded and mature approach to several social talking points (not only drugs, I hasten to add).

Any figures on the social/physical damage of magic mushrooms?

Possibly one of the lowest of any drug out there, legal or illegal.

They are also cracking down on coffee shops selling weed. Drug tourism is something they want to reduce.

They are not really "cracking down" as such - just closing some that are within a couple of hundred yards of secondary schools, which makes sense to me. I am a regular visitor to Amsterdam and it doesn't worry me one little bit :)

Ah, fair enough. Having done a bit of reading I see you are right. However, it does say that they are closing 20% of them in all.

It's extremely extremely low, but you will get the occasional person who makes utter douches out of themselves while tripping - falling off balconies and such. If I remember right, something like this happened which eventually led to the Dutch government voting in favor of a ban.

The actual physical damage is nonexistent, mushrooms and LSD are non-toxic and leaves no permanent damage. Those with psychological problems -will- be affected though.

Non-dried mushrooms went from being legal in this country to being class A overnight a couple of years ago. I think the government needs to get its act together with regards to drug classifications.
