An eye for an eye - Iran courts rule to blind man

you know, people are saying that this is derived from "an Eye for an Eye", but i happen to know that the "eye-for-eye" laws in both Islamic and Jewish law are about monetary recompense for the damage done...

Iranians are just barbaric.
 
To be honest, I think people who do things like that (rape,mugging,peado`s,burglary and theft and lets not forget our old friend murder a forethought, these people should be shot. They do not warrant an ounce of pity.
Jail for them is wasting our money.
 
Typical knee jerk reaction law. It would be better for all if he wasnt blinded and put to use somehow for the good of everyone else, including the lady blinded by him. Instead, fueled by hate and not logic, they do the same to him as he did to her.

This does not have the desired effect of stopping people from doing it, otherwise he would not have done it in the 1st place. Also, if he was a rich goverment person, i bet he wouldnt have got the verdict this guy has...

1 law for the poor and one for the rich. As always.
 
Jeez, how can they say they're civilised when they see nothing wrong with taking someone's sight. I know he did it to someone else, but that doesn't make it right to do it to him. Surely there's something else that can be done instead. Disgusting IMHO.
 
I wonder if he is truly sorry for what he'd done. That would be the first thing to ascertain before deciding on what punishment. I don't what I'd do but that, somehow, doesn't seem right to me. The ones that carry it out - they will go through the same self made torture that a soldier does when he commits atrocities. Like when some of the Russian soldiers come back from the Chechen war front line and they can't escape the nightmares. Fact.

What a world we live in. He should be made to pay for a carer for her for as many hours a day as she needs. Him losing his sight results in 2 people living out crap lives and not being able to feed themselves.

Blind people can feed themselves, they aren't retarded. Plus crap lives? I can't help but think this thread is just coming off a lot more offensive to blind people than it is Iranian society.
