An eye for an eye - Iran courts rule to blind man

By that I meant go out and work to being food in.

About a month ago I had a guest 'speaker' for some students to meet.
His name is Alan and he is deaf, blind & mute and guess what? - he goes out to work at Remploy and earns his own money.
He also speaks 6 languages

I'll just stop the stupid questions now before they start -

Lol,how can a deaf, dumb & blind guy speak lol?
Very easy, its called Blocking and is done on the palm of his hand and he does it back.

It wouldn't really have been a stupid question if someone did ask.

Interesting post nonetheless.

And the chances of a blind Iranian person being employed? Granted I am not fully aware of the circumstances of this country regarding disability employment acts but I would be willing to bet they will not go the first mile and make the building and work area suitable for someone who has lost their vision...

(Btw. I am not and have never said they couldn't work, and fully aware there are those with visual impairments doing the exact same amount of work as those who do not (or more!).)

I wonder who gets the job to put the acid in his eyes?

I'm sure someone from the OcUK massive would be happy to step in if the position of State Blinder goes unfulfilled in Iran.

It was a terrible original crime but I'm really struggling to understand how blinding another person is going to achieve a better result here. It isn't going to give the lady her sight back so essentially we're dealing with vengeance and that's a rubbish way to have any legal system

You've managed to sum up my feelings on this perfectly. It's not justice, just revenge. Surely society is supposed to take the moral highground when dealing out punishment, rather than lower itself to the level of those who commit the crime.

If you asked a garden variety moron / scumbag about this, guess what their take on it would be?

 at the flippant opinion.

Typical knee jerk reaction law. It would be better for all if he wasnt blinded and put to use somehow for the good of everyone else, including the lady blinded by him.

its called Retributive Justice. I am in favour of this - steal something? hands chopped off, rape? castration, murder? Death penalty it is.

If someone has no respect for others property, life, being - then they void their own rights. Nowadays our society goes too far in favour of "rights for criminals" instead of thinking about the victim.

The innocent suffer while the wicked inherit the ****** earth.........

And yes i think it would help deter people from committing vile and senseless crimes.

There should be a price to pay which leaves a permanent mark proportionate to the harm and suffering they have caused.

Also, if he was a rich goverment person, i bet he wouldnt have got the verdict this guy has...

1 law for the poor and one for the rich. As always.

Separate issue.

Poor poor woman:(, I think the victim should get to choose the punishment!

she should get to choose

shariah law gives three choice's to the victim

1. she could have done to him what was done to her

2. she could ask to be compensated with blood money

3. last but not least she can forgive the man (Allah loves forgiveness)
