Rockstar: GTA IV PC uses SecuROM for protecting our EXE until street date has passed, to ensure the retail disk is in the computer drive, and is used for Product Activation of the title. Product Activation is a one time only online authentication when installing the game. GTA IV has no install limits for the retail disc version of the game, and that version can be installed on an unlimited number of PCs by the retail disk owner.

Lol, it will be cracked before the game is officially out, pirates will be able to play it without a DVD in the drive and before release. Why do they have to bother with overprotective DRM ****? Ridiculous.

doesnt sound too bad to me really.

Agreed, especially with the unlimited installations part. The most annoying thing about online activation for me was the limited installs.

What is the Rockstar Social Games Club application that they are insisting we install with the game? I think I'm more concerned that they insist we install extra applications rather than the online activation, especially if it is something I'll never use.

Unless its different from the console version, Social Club is just a website that tracks your stats and whatnot from the game linked to your gamertag thing.

edit; oh, just read that full article. Does seem they have integrated into the protection...why. :/

Might not be too bad then if it's just a stats tracker then. I'm just a bit annoyed if developers/publishers start insisting we install other applications alongside their games (thinking EA Downloader here).

Boo ******* hoo. The only people this sort of thing seems to wind up are the ones looking to download it illegally
LOL! The ppl who download it illegally are not going worry cause they bypass all the ****!

Yep...

I still have it on pre order but the multiplayer better work for me as I can't get windows live working on fallout 3 for me :(.

Dvd in drive though: Crap . Also bloody release date checker, so if my pre-order arrives on monday I won't be able to play it ? Grrrr...
Activation? lol !

Ohwell, I hope they don't ban crack users and simply look at the cd key or whatever when going online, the first thing I did when I installed SA is to crack it... CD's for the lose :(.

Even though I buy all my games had an issue today with Crysis Warhead so cannot even play it right now until EA get back to me!!

Someone else has guessed my serial no via a keygen so it says I cannot even play it unless I buy another activation code. Game will not launch no matter what it seems to have locked the main exe. Removing and reinstalling does not work either.
