Anyone got their SE xperia!!! what do you think?

Ever heard a network customised ROM actually provide improvements over a generic ROM? I cant see how SE would even consider a recall, if a network could fix a problem they cant via the ROM without recall...

Vodafone seem to be spitting some bull, though I still havent seen anything concrete regards a recall anyway...

Have this phone, bought it unlocked early this month direct from Sony, with no contract rubbish.
Yes the signal is poor. Apart from that it's an extremely good phone with an impressive screen (best i've seen on any phone), decent battery life, very good/accurate and quick GPS, and it's responsive. Best phone i've ever used, just not happy with the signal... maybe i'll try and take it back, and get a replacement if/when a new revision comes out.

Also have had the Samsung Omnia and Iphone 3G in my hands lately. The iToy is a joke, and the Omnia is not bad, but certainly isnt as responsive.

O2 finally have stock gogogo!

I got it on on the £45 tariff for £31.5. £50 for the fone.

It an okish deal compared to others but I guess it saves me from moving to vodafone.

Ahgggg! Now I don't know if I want the Xperia or the Touch HD, decisions, decisions. :(

May just ring them up and see what deal they can provide me. :s

EDIT: Ok I just came off the phone with them, the cancellation department straight off offered me the £45 a month tariff for £30, which I guess isn't too bad, then said about waiting til January to upgrade and going on simplicity for the time being (I guess they still want people to wait until january as mentioned in previous posts).

I just stuck myself on simplicity for the time being, although I may ring up again and see if I can get them down to the £27 a month deal (I didn't haggle at all), then decide whether I want the phone when I get it, or sell it on the bay and get a Touch HD sim free.

was interested in getting one of these until I read about the bloody signal...

Then again I wanted the HD till I read about how easy it is to chip/flake the paintwork.

Seems there is not one phone on the market that people cannot gripe about. Of course the signal is a big gripe though so I can't afford to have a phone where I can't ring people - what's *** point in that?!

HTC Touch Pro?? Similar to the X1...

Surely you realise such a thing doesn't, and will never exist?
See Im one of those people, where I think all this extensive functionality has made the developers spread too thin to make a decent OS that does everything well - but when it comes to WM phones, I shouldnt really expect anything less, its not really a new mobile OS platform and has been going for 8 years now so I would hope they have had got quite a lot of the core perfect.

Though some of the blame has to been applied to the manus who keep cobbling together the minimum spec possible to get the OS to perform.

While such smartphones begin to mature I think we are entitled to be more critical of their performance, in the past I was 'happy' to deal with issues/slowdowns, but they still keep happening then Ill just stop buying the product, which is the reason why I cant find one WM phone that seems to work how I desire it and why I very much doubt my next phone will be based on WM...

Nothings massively wrong with WM 6.1 ps3ud0. And the X1 certainly isn't underpowered - Few people know this, but apart from the ARM11 528MHz main processor it actually has another ARM9 256MHz processor dedicated to speeding up application processing + 386MB RAM (256 used for programs) and ATI gfx acceleration. It's a very nice bit of hardware.

It's more responsive than other WM phones i've used, and also the iToy 3G.
The only problem is the signal. It really ****s me off. I dont think it's OS related in any way, i think it's the one bit of poor hardware in this phone...

Totally, I mean I couldn't care less if I can control nuclear power stations, configure space rockets or order take aways over the intarwebs on my phone. If it fails at BEING A PHONE, then it fails full stop. It's really totally unacceptable. Notice how every review of these devices fails to actually review the device AS A PHONE - it's all touch screen this, camera that, GPS this, how much memory HOW MUCH MEMORY???? 11!! It could have 20 gazillion TB of RAM. If it can't make and receive phone calls, have a decent phone book etc etc then it fails.

I've seen an offer whereby you can get the X1 for £29X on Vodafone and renew your current contract. Thing is my current contract is 12 months/£8 PM :D

Wonder if it'll work?

I totally agree with you whitecrook, and do you have the phone? I think more people need to complain to Sony about this (i already have), because at the moment they do not recognise it as a problem that exists.

Has anyone got voices working on tomtom7, help would be appreciated

Edit: In: file explore/my device, what would be equivalent to "my storage" found in the omnia?

When you downloaded TT7 did it include a Voice folder? has one been installed?
I reckon it hasn't, because the voice thing should just work without having to do anything.

Nope I don't have the phone. If it hadn't been delayed by about 2 months, I would have bought it back in a flash. But as it kept getting delayed for various reasons it was becoming apparant there were problems. So i'm glas I ever got it...

As I said above 1) I still really like my 6210 - voice quality on it is still the best I've heard on any phone. It's really close to a landline, no, really. People have commented to me after borrowing it that the sound quality is really good - surely that's saying something?

2) I'm waiting for either a) the 5800 touch IF it is cheap enough or b) the next gen Nokia touch with Haptikos or c) the next version of the E9xx series navigator with touch

I'm not bothered about mobile-phone-epeen so not having the currently latest phone, and waiting potentiall 6months or more for a phoneto possibly come out does not bother me in the least.
