On the den, I was watching a certain dragon proclaim that he is doing well for himself and has lots of children, and that they will be well looked after, but says that his 300 million will go to charity when he dies as he wants them to stand on their own feet.

Interestingly, my olds are starting to think the same way about my inheritance, and they are well off. And yes, they did look after me when I was young (basic food, and education but no car, playstation etc.). Whereas I am currently on the dole due to a tough job market, and unworkable business ideas, again due to a crowded market. But I do work hard and stand on my own feet, just not much to show for it. Though not impossible, the government is pushing the cost of living to extremes via rises in road tax etc. making it difficult for the average joe to live, and employers don't seem to take interest in qualifications any more, rather just those who will work for minimum wage without breaks.

Not a moan so I will firstly full congratulate the entrepreneur for the one in a million (possibly less) shot of becoming very successful. But I am of the opinion that the dragon has simply been working for charity his whole life minus a tiny cut for his house, car and lifestyle. What then was the point of making so many children? Just to prove a point that if he can do it, anyone can?

Well, I disagree, I mean of course people can achieve when they put their mind to things, but not always. IMHO, he should ensure that his offspring are given an equal split to ensure their children don't end up on the dole queue in the future being a drain on society, when in actuality, it is the charity scroungers that should be out there looking for a job. Education and upbringing is no guarantee of success no matter how hard you work. I for one will make sure my children will inherit what little I have, without a penny going to charity.

Discuss :)

I think Peter Jones has the best idea with the way he is giving his children his wealth. He has set up a trust fund with a variety of rules. For instance they have to be working full time to receive any money at all from the fund. The type of job they have also determines how much they get. Get a cushy job and you get a minimum amount. End up with a thankless job like being a nurse and you get more.

The details might not be exact but you get the idea.

Hehe. Actually, I'm hoping in the future the goverment will make inheritance towards children more favourable to combat selfish parents :)
And why would they do that? The government need all the tax it can muster and anyway taking from the bourgeois elite to shower benefits around hand out Britain is all our borderline socialist government wants.

Are your parent talking about completely cutting you from the will or say leaving you enough for a house then giving the rest to charity?

I suspect they may just be wanting you to give them more attention and praise/thanks for all they have done for you.

Its a great idea isn't it?

He gives them double their yearly earnings for a normal job, and if its a job that involves helping people then it is three times the amount i think.

Complete cut, though I have been paying more attention in the hope of grabbing a crumb :(

Thing is if you spoil your children and leave them millions of pounds they will know they don't have to earn money and they could easily waste it all or become addicted to drugs, when you can stay in bed all day and not worry about paying the mortgage thats when rich/celebs turn to drink and drugs.
