So the usual routine. The missus puts the boy in his carseat, i've started the engine, got out, left the door ajar and started scraping off the frost from the windows. The missus closes the back door and somehow my door closed fully aswell. Then the car decides to lock all the doors.

Was a true Final Destination / Michael Knight scenario!

Thankfully the AC was turned on keeping the boy nice and warm whilst I rang up my parents to bring the spare key for the house round so I can get the other car key. (House keys are with the car keys).

The car has never done this before. Even last year when I was scraping off the snow etc I've closed the car door with the engine running.

Also this may or may not be connected... but the drivers side window controls have started cocking up. I can put the passenger side windows down but not back up. Have do to it manually at the passenger door.

Car is a MK1 Focus Ghia.

Why on earth would it lock all the doors??? does sound spooky

But glad you got it sorted without having to break into it!

My car did something like this the other day...

I was sat waiting for the girlfriend, turned the engine off and took the key out (still sat inside). Then I heard it lock without me touching the key, but checked my door and it was still open.

Girlfriend went to get in the other side and it was locked... bit odd.

It's those notorious ford electrics... no wait...

The wires are probably failing where the drivers door hinge is. Also, don't rule out the passenger door, due to the way the electric window will be wired.

I did this with my pet lab popped the boot with the remote which due to a rubbish design only unlocks the boot and somehow dropped the keys in the boot. It was a hot day and I was 50miles from home so had to smash a window. Never made that mistake again !

Cold weather and damp affecting old electrics.
