If you go to a terrible Chinese Takeaway then yes, if you go to a good one then no. I love Chinese takeaway and we have 3 good ones near us, never a problem over here.
The meat has effectively been steamed, the batter keeps the meat moist and absorbs the sauce. It's fantastic.
However 4 in 5 takeaway places or even higher do taste like rubbish.
i've been to at least 3 and last nights was supposed to be a very popular one, the place was full and had to wait 40 minutes for a table. was bloody expensive too and it still tasted like crap.
Chinese food tastes completely different depending what country you are in, they adjust it for the local market. So I can imagine the American market is set towards quantity rather than quality.
