Just dawned on me that I'm browsing the classifieds at PH more than AT now and wondered if you guys were the same?

It does seem to me that PH has more choice but this might be down to the search.

pole?

PH used to be awesome. Now its full of secondhand car dealers and morons putting their car up 'to see if there is any interest' because its free to advertise.

If your spending serious money, yes. With the more special cars, forum members will often know about the said car and be able to offer you information on its history etc.

^^ Yup, as Fox says really.

I'll often browse pistonheads classifieds but when actually buying a car I only used AT.

Less choice at PH but greater chance of finding a loved second hand private purchase there then AT

Agreed. More chance of finding an enthusiasts car thats been well looked after on PH than AT.

However, noticed lately that there have been a good few dodgy ads on PH Classifieds than there used to be.

Buyer beware, wherever you purchase from!!! ;)

depends what type of car you're looking for....

Although tbh I would always check specific car enthusiast sites for the car I was looking for too :)
(unless it's a mondeo)

Agreed, when I was looking to buy my car Pistonheads had absolutely nothing that matched what I wanted (Astra SXi for £2,000-2,500), whereas Autotrader had quite a few, including the one I bought.

For those with bigger budgets looking for something fancier though, it seems like a good place.

I check E-Bay and Pistonheads more often than AT because its easier. The search system on AT really isn't up to scratch tbh.

Yeah, although it's a good system.. It's just LONG.. And the 'you have to enter you're postcode' thing always gets on my nerves

The main gripe I have with it is the age system, I want to be able to specify an age range, not just "under X years old". That way I wouldn't have to sift through to find cars I'm interested in.
