Grand Theft Auto 4

Assuming I can download at full speed if I order off steam it'll take me 4 hours to get. I'm thinking of just going down to the shop but wonder if they will sell out quick?

I doubt it'll sell out, quickly to be honest. Although if shops only get a small amount of stock in the first place, I suppose it's a possibility.

Moving from one platform to another.

Just hope to god it runs nice on my rig, I wont be running more than 1280x960res and hopefully high with a few mixes of medium settings thrown in.

Also hope its modable so ppl can mod choppers into planes cos i used to love grabing a plane in sa and just flying about, sooo relaxing. :)

hmmm 2 shops in chester have it now, but wont sell it till wednesday

what does " port " mean ?

The game will be ported from the consoles. Meaning the files and what not all come from the console version and needed to be changed to work on the PC.

Yea, it'll be unoptimized from the sounds of it just like a traditional crappy port...

I'll go buy it from the shop, it is 24 quid on the tinternet so that'll be 29 in the shops.

GTA III didnt run well when it came out because of the motion blur stuff hogging it, turn it off and it was a lot better.

Can you buy GTAVI in the shops, then add to steam?
If steam lets you join servers, like follow your friends, like other games it would be cool.

Do you mean 'trails'? Yes turning that off made it run (and look) better, BUT it still didn't run particularly well for a lot of people even in spite of that. You did need a beefy CPU and GPU (for the time, we're talking P3 era) to run it half decently. Vice City on the same engine was much better optimised.

Whilst the CPU is midrange bordering top range for performance (after OC) the rest is low range really!

dirtydog, i'd consider that mid range..

similar setup to me
q6600
8gb ram
8800gt oc

i consider mine mid range too

Just had an email to say my preorder is being processed now so may even get it tomorrow. Only £24.58 from that well known high st specialist.

IMO you would be insane to pay more money to STEAM and have to download the 18GB or whatever it is!!
