So our entire building just got evacuated for a bomb scare, 30 minutes of about 1k people standing about being confused ensued, great craic, I got a free coffee and a smoke break

we were supposed to go down to our other building to take calls there but I just dandered about smoking, we're back now though

me being still in the building would have destroyed the point of an evac therefore I had nothing to worry about and have thus proceeded to joke accordingly

We have no heating here, I've moved one half to the bit that's heated but there is no room for me, so I could legally walk out but lets face it, it dosen't look very good

Walked outside at lunch, bloody warm out there

I am at work at the moment and it's cold here too, UK Durham. Not got a coat on though. Warm enough to pass the day by.

Although nowhere near as frequent nowadays (down to about 1 a week now in Lurgan), bomb scares were and are a part of our daily life in Northern Ireland. I used to love them, especially when in school as we'd get let out into the main street for an hour or two or if the threat was credible enough we'd get sent home early. The best one at school was when the principal came out with a shovel, lifted the bomb onto it and carried it out to the handball alleys out the back, just before the army arrived. It was funny seeing this ridiculous man in a suit walking along with a long tail shovel in his hand and a lunchbox on the end which looked to be full of semtex (probably baking dough though).

Not to mention that it was usually quite cool to watch the whole operation unfold. The army would arrive with the bomb squad and secure the whole area, there'd be helicopters everywhere, Saracen armoured vehicles, police in Tangis. Then after a while some kids would come out and start to throw stones at the army. Going back a while, it used to be men shooting bullets at them but things have calmed down.
