i had just finished my lunch when that went off. went for a smoke but dam it was cold by the river.

So our entire building just got evacuated for a bomb scare, 30 minutes of about 1k people standing about being confused ensued, great craic, I got a free coffee and a smoke break

just on a different note - does it bother anyone else that in situations like these the general public seem to be kept oblivious to whats going on and herded around like sheep until everyone is told to go back to work. Just an observation. What would happen if a major disaster happened? Would ppl just mill around waiting to be told what to do? (not a criticism just an observation on people/crowd dynamics)

People eventually get the idea if something bad has happened but if you are straightwith them like "CHEMICALS HAVE BEEN RELEASED" then you ensure fear and panic, people are stupid. Fear and panic is bad, you at least want to asses the sitution and create a peremiter if needed, harder when people have paniced and made that area bigger.

it's funny you should say that, after the first 5-10 minutes people started drifting back towards the building, if a bomb were to have gone off there was an abundance of people standing far too close for safety comfort
