Do I really need to drain my radiator and then add new clean water + anti-freeze, then warm-up engine and let it cool etc?

Or can I just put a little bit in and go for a quick short drive some it warms up and gets through the pipes?

if your replacing the anti-freeze and not just topping up.
drain and flush the system first.
then you add it all till your up to the level(open the air bleed that maybe on 1 of the pipes and that the heater control is set to hot so the anti-freeze thats in the heater is replaced too) when no more air is coming out close the system and run the engine and check the level again and make sure the heater is working too

It's my first car and is second hand so i'm not, i'd imagine if there's any left it in it'll be a different brand.

Saying that, i'm having it serviced this weekend so is there any point is going through that? I could ask for it to be done then for me
