GTX 260 (192 core) worth it?

For that price I'd say so.

Check this out :)

It compares the GTX260 216 against the original GTX260... there doesn't appear to be that much difference unless you are buying a super clocked (or greater) version.

Thanks :)

narr go for the 280GTX, you know you want to... I did and it rules

Sadly, gone are my days of carefree purchase. Kids and a massive mortgage means I have to look around for bargains :)

You would have to be a right muppet to pay the extortionate price for a 280 when you can buy a 260 maxcore and clock it to 670 on the core and get 280 performance and in some cirumstances beat a 280, like I did.

Sorry, maxcore too much for me too :)

not bad wonder whats up with them, being b grade, would OcUK tell you if you called them ?!

I sent them a webnote last week asking about some B - Grade 4850's they sent back,

We have no way of knowing. The card will be in a working order just without drivers or cables or something like that.

Regards,

hope that helps:)

Usually 14 day warranty with OCUK, then remaining warranty with manufacturer as far as i know. Maybe send them a webnote to double check though.

Just noticed the Leadtek one is labelled as Retail and not B grade! (maybe clearance stock)

With B-Grade you tend to get just the hardware, no extra at all (cables, manuals, drivers, CDs, software etc).

Hades, you have mail :)

Unless you are fussed with FarCry 2 and Crysis, the original GTX 260 should serve you well. The GTX 260 216, especially the super-clocked versions, does seem to give you the necessary boost for a smooth frame rate at higher settings.

Even if you are fussed with FC2 and Crysis, the 260-192 still seems perfectly capable at 1920x1200,the Firing squad analysis has an average of 35fps in FC2 at very high with 8xAA,lets face it who needs 8xAA at 1920x1200,realistically 4X should be enough for anyone, average framerate at 4X would probably be well up in the 40's/50's.

At the B grade price I'd say it's definitely a very good buy.

Well there you go then :)

On a budget = 260-192
Can afford an extra £55 or £65 = 260-216 Superclocked / Black Edition / Whatever!

I have the 192 version, difference when both versions are OC'd is minimal. 2-5% in most cases. For £100 less than the 216, I'd go for it.
