Hi

I have 2 computers in my house at the moment, one is using Vista 32 bit and my gaming machine is using Vista 64 bit. I bought both copies of Vista from OC and both are OEM.

I am in the process of building a new media centre pc and woudl like to install Vista 64 bit, can I use the copy I have already installed on the gaming pc or when I activated this copy did it pre register with Microsoft without me knowing ???

Or in other words can I build a new pc and install the copy I have already installed on another machine

no you cannot use one vista into 3 PCs but you can is 1 PC and 1 Laptop if retail disc -- if OEM then just one PC or one laptop not both at same time or more than 1 PC.

OEM that mean you stick same motherboard but can upgrade other hardwares like HDD or DVD or RAM,etc..

Retail mean you can upgrade all of it include motherboard.

What makes you think you can install Retail Vista on both a laptop & Desktop?

That'd make sense :)
Of course these days for home use you're better off with Office 2007 Home/Student as that can be installed on 3 machines.

1 license = 1 install, end of. And yes, Microsoft does register non-identifying details about your computer against the license so trying to activate again on a different computer will get a "this license key is already in use" message.
