**OFFICIAL** Lotro:Mines of Moria thread

@ Eeekfek whats the name of your creeps mate? spent a fair amount of time in the moors on my freep im sure i must have come across you at some point?

/snip

happy mining all see u in game

Lokion lvl 52 Minstrel

Officer of United Kingdoms
Snowbourne

hmm, i deleted all my Snowbourn creeps mate, packed up and moved to Laurelin ...

rumour has it creeps will be getting a 'buff' as more freeps return to the moors, for example we had around 8 high level creeps battling a burg and loremaster both of which level 60 near TA bridge south. Once the burg stunned someone they were toast within 3-5secs, scary to think what a full raid of freeps will achieve. It only took 4 freeps to take two keeps yesterday !! so much for balance haha...

i'm enjoying the PvE though, have my hunter @ 53 and Lm about to hit 51.. the 3man instances are quite good fun and dont take hours and hours to play through which is why i only did the rift/Anumminas(sp) once or twice.

btw Loki, you know that most of my old kin joined United Kingdom about 5mths ago? Davidus/Rodimus, Evason,Enzo..Davo etc etc , good bunch

I'm not sure how widespread the runekeeper firespell bug is, seems lots have it but most people aren't bothering with dx10 as most people playing any game won't be on current generation hardware. POssibly the new patch will fix it, hopefully anyway.

I do think the whole mines is pretty much fantastically designed, looks pretty stunning and is fun to explore, but I guess it just feels fairly small overall and due to the weird enemy scaling once you can get into the first area, you can pretty much survive any area in there which is a shame as you really just see it all far to quickly IMHO and because the enemies simply feel the same level all over, it doesn't feel different enough.

Its another reason why i thought City Of Heroes was so freaking awesome in its scalability, for those that suck at all games, they can play everything on easy, for the best players, play everything on the hardest difficulty for some challenge, though even there hardest wasn't hard enough and easy was pathetic. Its why i have no objection to instancing.

THe problem is I guess only the real instances where everything has normal MMO style ridiculously raised morale need groups. Almost all non instanced content , even that classified as group doesn't need a group. small group stuff is all pretty easy solo, big group stuff is generally solo'able if played right or done a couple levels later.

Its weird, when I really think about it theres quite a lot of flaws and things to critique, yet its certainly still fun to play, and its awesome for a Lotr fan to move around and see everything you've read/watched before. The story aswell is mostly fairly damn good which is rarely seen in a MMO, without a good epic storyline going on I'd find it far harder to be remotely interested.

i run Dx10 ultra settings and have no such problems, if im in the Ettenmoors i always switch back to dx9 as 50v50 battles cripple machines that can run Crysis at 200fps ..

I've had a go at the two new classes but just cant be a$$ed having to go through quests ive done hundreds of times, and btw ive never had a problem with framerate and the RK's skills..

drunkenmaster, you mention its all abit too easy and i guess you near to the cap level of 60 ? i've had the game since release and im lvl 53,51,51 taking my time and just having a laugh with a few mates , if your going to just simply power level through you only have yourself to blame for the problems you outline..

I'm loving MoM,loads of solo quests to keep you busy, did the library instance last night, very enjoyable and got lots of goodys:)and the new legendary weapons system is great:D

There I was getting all hyped again only to find that I have lost my CD (Shadows of Angmar). Is there any way to download the client without having to buy the game again and would I be able to log into my existing dormant account and characters.

I should have googled first as I have found the client download :o

whoop - It's also a nice fast 1.4MB/sec download. Just a pity that I did not start downloading earlier so as to get a few hours in tonight.

I purchased a digital copy of Mines of Moria from Codemasters and have only received the payment confirmation but not the email with my game registration key. Anyone experienced this issue?

If they are still available you can download the trial versions (think they only go upto book 13 though so you'd have to patch the rest). My MRS did that in the US i bought the game here, setup a COG account and she downloaded the trial (which has all the game files).

I'm loving Moria, got my main (Hunter, which tbh is a lot easier to level than my Guardian or Burg) upto lvl 59, almost 60 but off on holiday for a month Friday. They have improved the textures at least, that much is obvious from playng, there is tons of solo content, more than group/raid. Did the grand stairs instance with kin other night, brilliant, well designd, challenging, only got halfway in but will be going back asap.

Legendary weapons are probably my favourite addition.

Been enjoying MoM, only been doing solo content so far and level 55 on my hunter (Tharuil).
I am the last remaining player in the Astalderea kin on Snowbourne so it has been a bit lonely when i'm online with no kin chat.
Keep dreaming of seeing Soltanis or someone come online but its not happened yet.
I guess ill hold out till 60 and then look for a new kin.

Loving the Legendary system.
I leveled the Book 1 reward bow to 25 and then when I got a new bow at 55 I took it to the forge guy and got the relics from it and a massive xp coin with 80,000 odd xp to boost the new bow right up.
So for anyone thinking of saving their first legendary items, don't do it if you want a quick boost on your new weapon.

People have done tests, the amount of XP for items from a kill is multiplied the more weapons you have, and the rewards are also much better at lvls 11/21 (and 31/41 for second/first age legendaries respectively) So the general consensus is it's best to lvl 6 weapons upto lvl 11/21 before deconstructing.

How are you finding the Hunter? 99% of the Hunters on the official boards seem very happy with the Moria changes.

To be honest even before Moria I found hunters massive fun after having leveled a captain to 50. They kill much faster and have a lot of fun utility stuff. If they've been buffed up with Moria I'll probably end up leveling it up from 35 rather than continue with my captain.

Always found them fun as well. My problem is the population. I think the bad press comes from Hunters comparing them against Minstrels and LM's being able to solo EM's and what not.

I've only read the official boards but nearly all of the Hunters seem very pleased (In fact quite a few seem to be awaiting the nerf bat again).

sorry but that doesn't make any sense to me, playing the content is playing the content, its easy no matter how you shake it. Solo, the same fights the same area's is harder than it is in a team, of that theres no question. The fact that I and half the other people are doing almost all the content, even small team and sometimes large team content solo should suggest this. If i teamed up more it would mean waiting around longer to get quests done, but the quests themselves would be a cake walk. Frankly i find it more challenging solo which is why I do it that way, but its still fairly easy. With a team, you can sit out fights without a problem. I don't see how power leveling through anything changes the content than doing it slowly. I can't see how solo'ing = power leveling and frankly teaming through most of the game = faster leveling, easyness, buff's up the yahoo for everyone and no sense of danger whatsoever.

I think, considering I complained about the difficulty more than anything, blaming myself for making it as difficult as possible by solo'ing is just about the most ridiculous thing you could have said.

As for Hunters, certainly quick killers, lack of heals doesn't really hurt in Moria as much as other places I found and thats really their only weakness. Also yes, we're all just waiting for a nerf hammer. They've pretty much removed any power problems at all in Moria content so you can go ultra DPS builds more easily with less power issues than the previous 10 levels. No downtime, easy killing, easy enemies.

Legendaries are pretty cool, though Hunters get a little problem with bow speeds and that they change quite a lot at various levels, 53/55/57/59 being the main legendary levels. your 57 bows are faster than 55 so end up doing about the same damage meaning they are a tad worthless, the 59 bows I could get soon are ultra fast, leaving you with crossbow the only choice at lvl 59 and are slower again so are high damage. Which isn't so bad as swiftbow animation is borked with bows, uber quick with crossbows, though funnily enough if you use oil's for fire/light damage, crossbow animation gets uber slow and bow animation speeds up, very weird.

Loving it, pre Moria we raided every week, i was raid leader, had full rift gear and fights were a matter of hitting 4 buttons most of the time and organising everyone else, controlling aggro, switching stances and the occasional trap.

Now with the trait sets i feel a lot more flexbile, with the massive damage increase and new class traits for HS/MS i can solo most things (using fear and IC traps too) i haven't played with my build much for the other traits sets and bit dissapointed with the new stance which is designed for the moors i guess.

In essence i'm extremly happy with the hunter changes, i feel like the massive damage producer im supposed to be. Unfortunatly champions and hunters have seen all the love, i suspect since Moria is post 50 content it was aimed to bring as many subscribers back as they could, and most people had Champions/Hunters so i won't be surprised when we get nerfed back again in the next book update.

I am about to give up with logging into the game. I purchased MoM and resubscribed in my COG Player Account page and then was unable to launch the game as I was getting and invalid user name/password message. I used the password reset feature and still have not received a new password reset email. I now cannot even get into COG Player Account page to change my email to a googlemail account, as my old password is now no longer valid.

They have a fairly slow customer front end as it is all slow old email support. They should be using some sort of log in instant messaging support at least so that account issues can be sorted out quickly. I know allot of people do not like Sony but they are fairly good with this sort of thing.
