OCZ Vista Gold not playing with Corsair

I've had 2 1Gb sticks of Corsair 4-4-4-12 running at 420/840 fine for ages, I've just picked up another 4Gb of OCZ Vista gold (5-5-5-15) and was hoping to run them together at 5-5-5-15 or thereabouts.

The OCZ or Corsair both work fine like this on their own, but putting them together gives me a bluescreen during boot, unless I put the FSB back down to default (800)

Are there any other memory settings I can tweak to get them to work together? Both sets are rated to PC6400/800MHz.

No real surprise to see the two brands not running together.

Have you upped the NB voltage by ~0.1v to boost it for running 4 sticks? Which motherboard?

It's an old(ish) Gigabyte P965 S3 board, it used to run with 2*Geil and 2*Corsair (both 2Gb kits) fine. I'm pretty sure the NB voltage is already +0.1, I'll just reboot and check.

I've had another play and I can't get them running together, if I offloaded the 2gb and picked up another kit of the OCZ - should I encounter any problems that way?

Agreed - 4 of the same brand would be great.

However, in your position (and assuming your board accepts 2gb sticks) i'd just sell the lot and get 2x2gb of OCZ or similar.

Would be much simpler, a bit cooler and should be more stable.

I've just added 2*2Gb sticks (OCZ), that's what this thread is about ;)
Doh - indeed you have! In that case go for the full 8. :)

Thought you'd done what most people tend to by getting an extra 2gb to bump their total to 4.

Frankly, i could never get my head around 6gb with mixing different volume dimms... TBH 3gb was a weird amount to me for the same reasons too! :D
