Same with Mcdonalds. I once saw a programme on tv showing how they take the perfect food shot for advertising/packaging and they spent hours re-arranging the contents so that they were all at the front and made the sandwich look fuller.

Af far as I remember from reading up on food product photography, those things you see in images aren't even vaguely edible.

The grill marks are painted on with marmite, its sprayed with spray oil to give it that sheen, the beef itself isn't even cooked enough so you would be able to eat it. I can't remember what they do to the veg to keep then from wilting under studio lights, but you certainly wouldn't want to eat them either. It was an interesting read....might have been a TV programme now I think about it.
 
How come this didnt happen to that god awfull crazy frog thing that was on tv a few years back? Those adverts were relentless to the point where I almost kicked our tv in lol.

Not to mention the old "tampon and boiling water trick" to make it look like the food is fresh and steaming.
