Grand Theft Auto 4

Hmmm, I bought this today and have installed it.

When I go to play the game it loads the legal info, then shows me the rockstar symbol and then the GTA4 logo and the screens proceeds to go black.

Wait about 30 seconds and it crashes back to windows after doing nothing.

Has anyone else had this or heard about it?
 
Hmmm. Mixed results.

Installed fine. Defaulted itself to everything on high, ran the benchmark, 30fps. Not too bad, but a bit choppy so I set it to Medium and restarted.

And the game hasn't worked since. FATAL ERROR MM10. Can't get in at all.

Log out of social club and obviously the Play GTAIV option vanishes. Run the exe direct and it wont even launch./
 
30fps on a GTX280 with dual core? Well that's some good news at least since we're comparatively matched spec wise.
 
At least you are getting an error message :)

I just get the standard windows message saying its crashed and do I want to send the report :)

Updating drivers and everything I can think of now, even doing Windows Update.....
 
I'm downloading this right now. I guess I'll get 0.01fps on my pc. If I paid £30 quid for a game which I can't even play. I'll be more annoyed then I already am.

Tried an uninstall and reinstall? That's my next option if a complete update fails.

Man I've been waiting for this game for ages and if it doesn't work now I'm gonna be ******!
 
Fox, just updated to my newest GFX drivers and now I run it and don't even see GTA splash screens and I get the FATAL ERROR MM10.

Let me know how you get on, I'll do the same :)
 
Oh BTW... Logged into Social Club it's working :D!!

**EDIT**, now that has happened cant get in game :(, GTA IV FATAL ERROR: MMA10 :\...

I have to log out to actually get in game O_o...

This forums sounds a lot like when Crysis came out. Does it support Crossfire at-all??
Anyone got a similar build who thinks it'l run well @ 1920*1200??

Mine is easily playable. I have everything on Auto Configure, except texture and render on low - 1680x1050 with vsync on and I get constant 60 fps.
 
Well I got mine working. I logged out of the social club and now it seems to work.

Graphics look poor so far on the auto detect but I am going to have a play around and see what I can get. Not gonna great from first looking at it :(
 
What is with the speckly shadows, makes it look like there are black pixels randomly splattered about - like a gif image with too few colours.
 
Makes me glad I left it for now, mind I have brought RA3 instead :s
Will prob end up buying this once I hear of some major fixes from R*, if they ever arrive...........
 
Really don't see how a patch is gonna fix the unplayable framerate I'm getting so I shall pack this game up and reinstall it when I get round to upgrading. From the 15 minutes I've played so far, it seems a great game ignoring the framerate issue.
