I don't know what to make of her, or her story. I get the impression she is of quite low intelligence and was probably led into this very ill-conceived scheme to generate some quick and easy cash.

In other words she is probably stupid rather than evil.

I think Donovan is stupid and not evil, even though it was he that had charge of Shannon throughout her ordeal.

I think Karen Matthews was the driving force behind it, and she has been described by people closely involved with the investigation as 'evil.

They both seem stupid rather than evil, to me looking from afar. They did an evil thing but how much we should condemn them, I don't know.
