Hey,

Does anyone know if the 40gb PS3 will play TR1 for the PS1? I really want to play this game but don't want to fork out for a PS1 just for 1 game.

TIA

No. Well, not unless you got one of the very first 40Gb ones which I believe had some form of software emulation before that got removed from the eventual, what we have now, 40GBs.

TR1 is an early PS1 game so i wasnt sure if it would play as i heard even some ps2s struggled with early ps1 titles.

There are a few copys on ebay going for a few quid so i'll give it a try.

By the by, you should look into Tomb raider Anniversary. Its a great remake of TR1 with the the Legend engine. Its on 360 / PS2 / PSP if you have any of those.

Got mine for £1.20 + delivery off ebay on PC- Best value game ever! Loved TR1, and the remake, whilst the levels I am sure are slightly smaller and take less time, is a good deal of fun and is good enough to keep you playing through to the end.

Better in every possible way than legends!!!
I need to try underworld though.....

Yeah i played the demo but it just didn't feel the same. I want to play it again as it was the very first console game i got and i haven't played it in years. I'll probably get Anniversary and underworld at some point as well.

That's cause it's not the same. ;)

It's a very good remake, but a very very different game.

If you havent played Anniversary you should give it a go. Its a quality remake. I had fond memories of the original game, so a while back when I fired it up for the first time in years I was pretty gutted tbh lol. It hasnt aged well!

I know what you mean, just had a quick go of resident evil 3 on my PS3 and i cant believe how bad the jaggies are . I didn't notice at all when i played it years ago, but that was on a CRT TV.

For the sake of £5 i think I'll just get the original and then buy anniversary later on. Its just stuff like the the aiming system and the way she dies with no blood makes it seem more like a kids game.

I loved Anniversary. It's not an identical remake - mainly the puzzles have changed a bit - but that's a good thing. Really brought back the memories. Best TR game since the first couple. Also, Underworld is alright.
