Hey wattsy
A tank is a specific class that is there to be the main focus of the enemy attack. Tanking is the process where that player takes all the damage dealt by that enemy, keeping the other players he is grouped with safe to attack without them taking direct damage. Obviously damage from area of effect spells can't be stopped by the tank, but tanking makes the healers job a lot easier because they mainly have to focus on one player taking huge chunks of damage instead of everyone. A tank is basically there to stop the enemy from attacking other people he is grouped with.
Tanking classes are specifically designed to absorb a lot of damage, and are also designed to hold the "aggro" of whatever it is they're tanking. This is usually done by using specific abilities as and when needed, to make the monster hate them more. In WAR's PvP though, tanks can't hold aggro easily because obviously players are free to choose their own targets, but their taunt ability (an aggro-grabbing ability) will cause the enemy target to change to the tank that taunted them.
In WAR, the primary tank is generally regarded as the Ironbreaker on Order, and Black Orc on Destruction, followed by the Swordmaster and Knight of the Blazing Sun (Order) and Chosen and Black Guard (Destruction). Although these classes are all tanks, the first two do the job a bit better due to the way their class works. The others are by no means useless at all, they just work in a different way and have a slightly different approach to dealing with the enemy.
Hope this helps
