Grand Theft Auto 4

"O hey guyz, we'z made uber protection stuffs that will stop nasty peoples getting our game free, it ruins the game but that doesn't matter cos they'll have to buy it!"

A week and a nocd crack later:

"Ow, that was silly."

I can't understand why the game won't allow AA, when all XBOX titles have to run 4xAA, and DirectX 10 is supposed to be easily translatable from the XBOX development kit?

With all the copy protection stuff and being forced to sign up for the social club to play the game, this stinks of a quick cash in for those who didn't buy the game on a console.

Yes it is , see my benchmark!

Dunno, I got a 10fps increase at first just by re running the benchmark.

So what protection did you remove?

Xbox dont run in DX10..

I dont think GTA IV in Vista runs in DX10 also.

So what protection did you remove?

It removes securom as apparantly the game while running looks for changed files and uses triggers if the files are messed around with. Maybe its the looking for the triggers or just the protection itself causing the slowdowns even if its the original but at the end of the day i have noticed a difference and the benchmark proves to me it has. I'm using it , i'm happy but you don't have to use it :)

There has been protections in the past that has caused in game slow downs i think it was starforce?

Xbox dont run in DX10..

No but from what i've heard, the xbox360 devkit is designed to leave gaps/places/stuff that allows you to more easily add things like DX10 features to the game along with other niceties to help developers port their games over to the PC. This is one of the reasons why you see more of the xbox exclusives surfacing on the PC than you do PS3 exclusives, it's a much less painful porting process.

At least that's what i've been told, makes sense too.

So if I remove the securom will I still be able to play online?

They need a new Devkit by the looks of most of these ports lol.

GTA uses DX9 I think, while the DX uses on the 360 is really a subset of DX 9.0c (via XNA framework I think).

I added the no restrictions to the shortcut and cranked this game to max.

LOL on 24" res it uses over 1.5GB of VRAM. Now the frame rate is fine but building etc just appear right in front of you.

Anyway so far im really reallt enjoying the game, ive not enjoyed a GTA game since Vice City but this one seemed far more focused in its layout. The jamaican people are well funny cos you literally cant tell what they're saying, "Yo man be doin that bro on me rounds to bat his yat to dir dirt".

Once you get into the missions you dont notice the graphics soo much & yes like other people have said the cars DONT go around corners. I love to control the cars with a PS2 controller and aim with the mouse but that aint going to happen so .. .. .
