Your DNA profile will be linked with your other data from when you're arrested, such as your name, address, sex and race.
Those could getout anyway even right now.
The DNA added on to that means nothing

thats unnaceptable. thats 1 in 13mil is far worse than i thought. this is bound to lead to people being arrested for crimes they didnt commit. even if they end up being found not guilty or it never gets that far because the correct person comes along there is no way to reverse the damage already done.
I have no concern over the data being stored purely for criminal investigation but we all know that it wouldn't stop there, no government database stays private for long. They would soon be selling access rights to life insurance companies so they can check you profile for long term inherited problems etc.
But it does mean yet another government database with my personal details on it so yet another government database where it can be lost from. If someone keeps misplacing data would you be happy for them to hold more of it?

Giving the Governemtn vast amounts of data will only lead to trouble.
No it means an amendment to the existing data base, no need to make a new one.

It's a painful disability.Not unless being a redhead is a medical condition.
Maybe someone can clarify this... But I don't believe a DNA profile is of any use for that. It's not a full DNA mapping, just the key points to fingerprint it.
Someone?
Neil, I take it you're also in favour of CCTV cameras everywhere too? Maybe the police having a full cross-check database of all our personal information? If they could put microchips in our arms to track us, would that be ok?

EDIT: I can feel a full-blown post coming on.
It may currently just be a finger print but once you've given the government the power too take a DNA sample at birth how long before it esculates, you argument is nieve at best and you advocacy of a police state ridiculous.
