I can only see Liverpool dropping points out of the big four, so I expect Chelsea to be top again tomorrow evening.

Although you can never really tell with Arsenal, but I think dropping points at home to Wigan is a bit too far even for them.

Sunderland might as well not turn up. If they get a draw out of that game I will eat my own face

I can only see Liverpool dropping points out of the big four

I doubt that somehow :p Just want this weekend to be over really :(

A draw, or dare I say it, a win would be amazing. Thing is, we'll probably lose and both the tabloids and a majority of the fans will start screaming "Ince out" again. I'm not exactly overjoyed by some of his decisions recently but I really don't want to be in a situation where we're changing managers every 5 minutes. Fowler needs to go, a large majority of the coaching staff needs to go and he really needs to play people (i.e. Warnock and Derbyshire) in their proper positions. Until then we're going to continue to drop points all over the place and will not be able to cause the problems for the big 4 that we have done in seasons passed.

We just need a confidence boost and I really can't see that coming tomorrow.

Yay. I wanted to post some stuff about the weekend, but I couldn't be arsed to start the thread properly. :p

Eboue is fit \o/. Surely we will now win the league.

Seriously though, I'm actually more worried about this game than I was about the Chelsea one. That game was almost "nothing to lose" about it, whereas this is the real prover. We've beaten Man Utd already. We've bounced back from other defeats. But we've yet to actually prove we've got the goods with a sustained run of form. Aston Villa are breathing down our necks, while Portsmouth, Hull and Everton aren't far behind either. Meanwhile, all the teams above us have had iffy runs of form lately, and if we want to get back into the mix, a win would really help. Gallas is out injured apparently, so I'm quite interested to see if the manager goes for a Clichy/Djourou/Toure/Sagna back four (my personal choice out of what we have), and how it would cope if he does.

EDIT: My first weekend off work in ageeees, and the game isn't even on proper telly. :(

Pretty sure Silvestre will be playing instead of Gallas tomorrow. At least with Eboue we have someone who will stay out wide on the right instead of one of our CM's out there.

  • Two goals this season - that’s double Cesc’s tally
  • Four assists - which is behind only Malbranque, Berbatov, Malouda and Arteta
  • 11th most fouled player in the entire league, winning plenty of free-kicks
  • 45 tackles won - 7th highest in the league - higher than Butt, Clichy, Diarra, Kompany, Reo-Coker, Barry et al
  • 991 passes attempted - behind only Lampard and Mikel
  • 849 completed passes, behind only Mikel

Who could I be talking about...

I'm going tomorrow, it will be cold.

Sounds like Denilson to me, remember him scoring 2 goals.
He's not a bad player, he will also improve over time. But numbers also aren't everything.

He's behind Malbranque for assist, but he's not great. He's behind Mikel for another and he's rubbish. Behind Malouda in assists and Malouda is useless.

I do think he needs loaning out to an EPL side though.

Personally I think he's a good player, good potential, but not the right partner for Cesc in a 2 man midfield. He might work in a 5, but thats another thread.

No no, you need to post it now. And you need to make it at least five paragraphs in length. Otherwise I just won't value your opinion.

I agree about Malouda (obviously, everyone should) but Mikel has arguably been our best player this season, he's far from rubbish:)
I've watched plenty of games this season from Chelsea and barring the last game against Arsenal I wouldn't rate Mikel in any of them. I thought he was excellent against Arsenal and ironically he was the one that was taken off whilst the professional ball-loser himself, Deco, remained on the pitch.

You would have to really argue he was your best player because it's easily been Lampard :p.

Bit concerned about the Sunderland game - I dont think they can win (without a very flukey goal) but I wouldnt be surprised about a well deserved point for energetic defence

Its been reported that the players are in a better frame of mind now Keane has gone also - so its likely they will play better

Maybe a case of Rooney and Tevez starting up front after Wednesday's blistering showing by the Argie

Im a bit confused as to why Richardson is suspended after his 5th yellow in the Bolton loss last weekend, but Evra isnt suspended for his 5th yellow against City until the Spurs game next weekend (or Ronaldo for that matter) as it would be much better if they missed this game rather than the away game coming up.

edit - must be the difference between playing on the Sat and Sun I guess (7 days inbetween for Richardson, and 6 for Utd players )
