XBOX 360 - Backup saves to PC?

As thread title, am I able to copy my save games over the network to my PC at all?

Not over the network, no. There are third party devices that allow you to take backups of your memory cards or hard drive though.

Just buy a 512mb card and backup to there.

It's not silly, it's by design. It's to stop people tampering with and exchanging game saves. If they find out you have been, they zero your gamer score and brand you a cheat when anyone looks at your profile.

There were a number of "high profile" users that they did it to. Usually the tags with world record high gamerscores.
