Hi guys,

My best mate and i have just been stripping the interior on his vauxhall signum to put in a new half leather interior.

However, one of the seat bolts is stuck on fast and been trying to remove it for the last hour or so but the bolt is now becoming rounded off.

What can we do??!?!?

Spot weld a socket or similar to it, bob's your uncle.

On motorcycle casing bolts I used to end up using a cold chisel to remove the worst ones. When you're give a time limit for a job the 20p bolt loses every time. Of course you would have to ensure you have a replacement :)

Get a slightly larger bit the tap it in, normally the force of the tapping is enough to jar it loose and the slightly larger bit makes a new 'key' to undo it.

get *** next size socket down and a big hammer, hammer it on. Also use a blow torch to heat the nut up. and plenty of wd40 to help lossen it, watch out for fires.
Or
Weld a bar or new head onto it.
or
Drill it out and re thread. A thread tool isn't expensive and is so so useful.

molegrips wont be any use on a round bolt, the grinder idea could work provided its a big torx bolt (t 50 and above) I would try hammering a bigger one into it though and using the shock to loosen it.
