Looking to get a lens with a little extra reach just really to test to see if its something I'll benefit from having.

I'm using a 350D and I've only got 2 lenses at present (Sigma 28-70mm F2.8 & nifty fifty). I mainly do portrait shots (family etc) and a few landscapes but would like to get into a bit of birding.

Will be starting with my back garden, sat in my conservatory pointing at the bird table, but at 70mm the sigma just doesn't get me close enough and if I use my legs to get any closer they take to the skies.

My idea is that I start with Tamron to see if its worth me making a heavier investment, rather than shell out 400 sheets on a lens I might not use much.

Any opinions / users of this lens on here. Any samples of your work?

don't have one but do know that it is reputed to be far better than you would expect for the price.

200mm , even on a crop, is not enough for birds, evne in your garden. And shotting birds in your garden will get boring quick. It is also a very slow lens 5.6 at 200..

I would consider one of the 70-300 4.5-5.6 lenses.

I have a Tamron 70-300 F/4-5.6 Di LD Macro 1:2 lens in pentax fit. It is quite a sharp lens, but it does suffer occasionally from purple fringing in high contrast scenes. However I only paid £56 for it brand new so I cant really complain. Also needs decent light when you are at 300mm. Not a bad lens though:

this ones better, shot at F8 iso 200 1/200sec shot. im quite happy with the lense for this price, macro isnt true macro as its only 1.2 instead of 1.1 but it does get you quite close.
