Grand Theft Auto 4

Just a quick question i have this on the ps3, can anybody tell me if the graphics are any better ?
Is it worth me part ex my ps3 version in for this one?

I would say they are better - but it depends on your system. The PC version does not have the blur effect that the console versions have. (You can press 'p' to give the same effect, but by default it is off, and sharper as a result.)

I spent a couple of hours just walking round the city last night, the level of detail is unbelievable. Wish GTA4 had mountain bikes, would be great for exploring.

For all the issues (and they are many) the graphics are definitely better than PS3 even on the spec below (which runs at the medium setting).

The gameplay is still excellent, if anything one or two of the missions and tasks seem a bit easier. I'm not deviating from the 3 stars I gave it in my review on the South American River site, largely as a result of the hoops it makes you install and jump through to get up and running. But as a game I'm having more fun than either COD WOW (no pesky grenades every two seconds) or FC2 (with its pesky respawning checkpoints and breaking weapons).

/sigh think this is my biggest waste of money ive ever spent. had it working fine for a day now but now im geting errors all over the place

another sigh they have a patch but its geting certified by microsoft? what a mess gfw is

To be fair, now that the servers aren't too busy to log you in, and once you realise that you won't be using high detail textures, it "runs" fine.

It's not the prettiest game in the world on medium detail, and the lack of AA is annoying at best.

It works, is about the best thing going for it at the moment.

I want to buy this game, but don't want to risk having all the issues described above ... is it worth it to get it working? :/

they will fix it anyways... may take long time who knows... i wont waste my moneys now.. best thing to do is wait for a patch and read the forums of people opinions of it.. if it helped or not.. :o

been playing it on and off the past few days and gotta say i love it, few things need touching up and my pc handles it no worries 40 ish fps mind...

SO THEN!

I've played for the 1st time today and after using this guide:

http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=379664

I am getting around 50fps at 1920x1200. The textures are a little better than GTA SA and the lighting etc is a fair bit better. I'll up the settings bit by bit until it real time lighting is as good as can be but so far I'm quite pleased :)

It took TOO ****** LONG to get started though, social club sign up, live sign up and install, live update blaa blaa...too much but least I'm there now :)

^ 1920x1200, no FSAA but at this res it's not too much of an issue although I'd like to have it anyway :/

LOL great vid, got to say its a really good game, just driving round is great fun as well. I nearly cancelled my order due to some comments but I'm really glad I didn't.

I was really looking forward to this game on PC, but I'm not sure now if I should get it or not because of all the issues.
