Doesn't look good out there for 2009

I expect EVERY industry to have a downturn in 2009. There is simply not enough money for average people and employers to spend the budgets they had even as short as 3 months ago. Everyone of my friends is worried about their jobs. Unfortunately, that my friends is how bad I feel this recession is going to be. A mate of mine in the banking industry is telling anyone that will listen, that his corporation (no names mentioned) expects this recession to be worse than the recession that happened after the Wall Street Crash of 1929 - which was only turned around by WW2!

The ads don't surprise me. I control a relatively modest £580,000 marketing budget for 2009, slightly up on 2008, and the prices we are paying now for 2009 compared to 2008 rate cards are 30% of the cost.

Sony plans to axe 10% of it's plants, and 8000 jobs by end of next year. Company says they feel that this is not enough and they will announce new measures shortly!
