QUICK TO THE INTERNET!!

I've called the relevant people (I rent) but what could the matter be? If its possible I'd like to fix it without staying a day off work to have an engineer in if it's something really simple or stupid.

It's a combi boiler and all the lights that are generally on it have gone off :(

Anything else i can look at or change?

Its on, every switch I can see is on and I've tried putting them on and off, the controls that go to the boiler like the timer are still on, but no lights on the boiler.

I don't think there is a fuse I can easily access.

Usually there are some instructions at the front with some trouble shooting, try that. Also worth looking for a guide on the net?

You tried putting the hot water on at the tap then manually starting up the boiler?

Are you anywhere near South Bank? could be the stolen cars gone out :p
Haha, no lol

Meh manual isnt much use, gives me all the error codes it could have but no mention of the display being completely off, sofar as I can see =/

Could no gas give me no lights?

Fuse in the Fused Spur, or mains board might have tripped. Check them both first.

The PCB usually has a fuse on it somewhere, but it's not easily accessible. The main thought going through my mind would be that something has CAUSED the fuse to go though. I've replaced a blown fuse only for it to blow again because something like the fan is short circuiting.

Don't suppose it's an Ideal Isar is it? The front control panel quite often goes on them and nothing else will work when that happens because it can't get a signal from any of the thermostats.

Edit: So the main question... what boiler is it?

Either way pal, put some clothes on when going bed otherwise you'll catch a cold!

Me on the other hand, its so hot in this room im naked.

:o

How did I know that? :p .

Yep, probably the front control bit, it's separate to the main control PCB but without it nothing else will work. There is no error fault because as far as it knows, everything is fine. It just doesn't recognise that there is a demand when you turn the tap on for example. It's an easy fix, but it won't be done in just one visit, the part will need to be ordered.

Doh, not good in this weather :(

Hmmm, I've just had a closer look at the gas pipe, there's a gauge on it, it reads 1bar / 15psi...

That doesn't sound right?

Yep, it should be at around 1bar when cold. It will rise up a bit when hot though. If you have to bleed the radiators that pressure will need topping back up again though using the filling loop.

Who will be coming out to fix it?

I don't know, the letting agent manages the property, I called their "emergency" number but got an voicemail. So I'll have to ring them again tomorrow, I'll also have to ask them how an answerphone counts as an "emergency" contact. Because if it was a real emergency I'd be up poop creak.

So, as I was at work yesterday the dude came this morning and has confirmed the PCB is pooped, though he doesn't know how long a new part will be...

I'm going to have to make sure the letting agent get it sorted as fast as possible, but what are my rights with it being winter and not having hot water/heating?
