Hey. Is it worth buying the gtx260-216 now? I mean I heard that the new GTX 260-216 55nm was going to be released in a month or so. So is it worth the wait or won't the difference matter that much ?

New 55nm will only be more expensive, making little or no difference to the price of current 216s. Up to you really.

yeah, they're worth buying. I doubt the new ones are really worth the wait to be honest.

You can buy an EVGA and you can always upgrade with the step up if any new cards come out.

Everything points to the new 55nm models being cheaper to make, whether this will translate into cheaper prices for the consumer is anyones guess.

They are unlikely to be THAT much faster (they have same clocks, might OC better though).

Id say its worth buying now, as at the end of the day the 55nm 260 is the same card, so why wait till Jan to buy one when you could buy one now, your still getting a 260, and your still getting a card that overclocks well.

I'd wait just to see how there going to be priced (55nm) not sure how much more performance your gonna get but smaller fab will mean less heat & higher clocks, it'll also use fewer watts (always nice)

There not far away now i believe so might aswell wait, unless your in dire need of a new gfx card

Just my opinion

Not worth waiting IMO. GTX260-216 everywhere are fast selling out as they are already a great deal. £230 for a card which is close to GTX280 performance (with a mild overclock) Only benefits of 55nm will be cooler running but they are already fitted as std with amazing HSFs and almost silent so not much will change there. Clock speeds are unlikely to change much otherwise Nvidia would hurt the vendors with extreme edition GTX260-216s. Prices as well are unlikely to drop if anything all UK PC hardware will continue to rise as the £ is losing even more against the $ and short term this will not change so now is probably the best time to buy one at current pricing.

I'd imagine the only two differences will be power consumption and overclockability. Since the current 260-216s clock massively already, power consumption is most likely to be the only major difference

Just got my 216 260, running at 720mhz core (linked) and 1150 on the memory and beats the stock gtx280 in vantage and aquamark. Very Very good card. go and buy :D

Which brand has proven to give higher stable overclocks? EVGA or BFG ? I order my BFG gtx 260-216 OC today. ( didnt get OCX since it wasn't on sale here in portuguese shops ) Any thoughts on if I can get it to the OCX clocks or higher?
I know its all about luck on getting the right chips but by general oppinion which brand has got the highest stable clocks?

EVGA and BFG are probably the two best for nvidia i would say, so doesn't matter who you go with.

It should be able to overclock to the OCX and beyond speeds no problem.

My card is the gainward limited edition. Clocks very very nicely, i think all these cards come from the same place regardless of the manufacturer.
