Dialaphone woes... new X1

Hi guys,

last week I bought the Xperia X1 on contract from Dialaphone for £40 a month - well.. i've received it and after having high expectations i'm pretty disappointed. Yeah.. this is my first windows mobile phone but its sooo slow. I tried putting the generic UK rom on it - things feel exactly the same. 10 seconds to start up the camera, severe lag to get into any of the phones main functions. The email / sms / phone part is all dog ugly and clunky... awww my dreams of having a swish phone that can do all these neat things was dead.

It's also frequently dropping calls and has some poor signal.

So i contacted dialaphone.. nope - they wont let me return it for a different phone, no chance, no way, no how - they will swap it out for another x1 but something tells me that wouldnt make any difference.

Has anyone had any luck in returning a phone to this company? I really dont want to be stuck with this for 18 months.. I just didnt expect it to be quite this clunky. It seems to lack some vital functions - I guess it really is just windows pretending to be a phone. No backlight just for the time, the ringtones sound dull and muted and the vibration is just that.. always on!

How am i expected to know what a phone is like without turning it on? seems some poor business practice.

Any help at all? or failing that, a way to make it suck less?

Thanks!

You could always try the not fit for purpose route in regards to the used phone. Can't remember it completely off the top of my head but I think its something like within a reasonable time (14-28 days I think) you can get money back if the product fails to fulfill its intended purpose to a reasonable standard, if its laggy etc then it might have an issue as would you flashing the firmware (if it was branded).

Ill give it a try - thanks.. aww.. i was just really hoping this would be a decent phone! I really should have given windows mobile a try first I suppose. Thing doesnt even play small divx files without dying

They are just trying to fob you off. Just escalate the problem to a more senior member of staff.

Also in my experience all Windows Mobiles are slow. The HTC diamond is probably the best out of a bad bunch.

Sorry i have to disagree there, i had the Diamond...lost it fri nite...blessing in disguise really but i digress...my bro has the X1 and compared to the Diamond the X1 is a much better and faster phone i found.

It got to the point where i was so fed up of the Diamond and its frankly rubbish performance. So for me losing it was a good thing...yes i lost £500 phone as it wasnt insured but i picked up a Blackberry bold and thats an absolute god send compared to the Diamond...i dont think ill ever touch another Winmo device...much like id never touch another Symbian phone again.

Will phone them this lunch - just asking one more time for luck - anyone at all had any luck returning a phone to these guys?

Thanks

Odd, my X1 is the best phone I've ever had, but then I've had 4 WM phones prior to it, so I have a proper point of reference.

WM phones will always seem slower compared to the cut-down OSes of normal phones :p
