Hi everyone, nooby question

Up to yourself, slightly different cooling (southbridge connected to northbridge etc) and 16 phase power compared to 8phase (which most people have doubts over whether it makes a damn bit of difference).

P5Q Pro is a perfectly capable and solid motherboard but yes everything would still work 100%! :)

(trying to find a comparison chart showing the differences between the p5q series)
Found it! http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.aspx?artno=548

Right ok, I will stick with the P5Q Pro ^^. Thanks again for help! Oh also, Would it be pointless to upgrade like in 2 months for a 280 GTX, I heard some new Nvidia cards will be coming out soon? ^^

An upgrade is never really pointless all down to how you use it and if its really required given how much it may cost. Personally i see it as pointless going for the 280gtx when a 260 with slight oc is not far off its performance at all.

Aye, the rumours have been circulating for months and months, there is ALWAYS something new around the corner though.

Oh, ok, that true, ^^ So, i'm acually thinking of Oc'ing that Intel, but is it easy to overclock? :P I will probably ask my dads friend to do it. Also, would I need a better CPU cooler then?

If you're going to overclock then yes otherwise you'll find yourself getting no where fast.

As for overclocking, with the P5Q combo such as yours, theres ENDLESS amounts of guides and tips on here not to mention all over the other popular hardware sites. Really easy once you understand what each thing does and affects.

Im not saying don't get a 280gtx btw, its your prerogative and of course hard earned cash :D

I use the Noctua cooler myself but from everything i read the Tuniq is a very good cooler and very highly regarded so i'd go for that :)

(Yes it will fit the motherboard ;) )

Oh BTW, will it be better upgrade my RAM to 1066 MHZ or 8500? My current ram is listed in this topic somewhere ^^. Would I see a big difference? Oh forgot to mention, I bought a Disk drive not long ago, it was this one - http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...DVD±RW SATA Dual Layer ReWriter (Black) - OEM But it would not load because of my hardrive, I have this one http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showp...ck 640GB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (WD6401AALS)

For my PC would not boot with it in, so I had to change it back to my old Drive?? Any ideas ^^

Had a feeling :P

Although not sure what the clearance will be with the case, as the case is 205mm wide and cooler is 153mm tall, accounting for the mobo standoffs and what not i think it'd be a tight squeeze. Be best to clarify whether it will cause a problem or not.

The ram would allow more bandwidth if you ran out of 1:1 ratio with the cpu, it allows for a better overclock than 800MHz would again, bit of personal preference as to whether you would benefit from spending a bit more.

As for the drive issue not too sure as they should work perfectly fine together, what do you mean by wouldn't load?

When my pc went to load, I got a blue screen :S

Most newish ones should but theres nothing wrong with that, a little webnote into ocers to clarify was all i meant. Hasn't happened to me but its something i once didn't check and i'd have been annoyed if i had went and built my pc up to find i couldn't put the case panel back on ;)

Thats odd, i thought it might've just been a case of the bios not keeping the hard drive as first boot device, i'd give it a bash when you get this new kit shouldn't see any reason for it to do the same

Haha ok ^^ I will stick with that case ^^. I was gonna buy the stuff later today, but I can't intouch with oc'ers now so should I just buy them and hope or would that be stupid lol :D

Up to you whether you wan't to take the chance, i reckon it should fit but be tight... I'll have a go on google see if i can find anyone with the case and same size cooler
