Looking for a motherboard for my E8400. I will want to OC this CPU a little, only to about 3.5ghz.

Has the memory compatibility issue been solved with the ASUS board yet?

Do I go with the ASUS or the Giga Byte?
Looking for stability mostly but also the ability to overclock a little?

Thanks, Matt

Both boards are good for overclocking. As for the mem issuse that was just the P5Q3 Deluxe,But that has been solved with a bios update now :) .

Imo, Go for the P5Q Pro.

Other peeps might have their own opinions though :)

Go for the gigabyte forget asus too many problems now with asus i got next board up just same really just extra features i am glad my asus is sitting in a box.

What sort of problems?

If you're going to dis a tier 1 brand then atleast give your reasons.

Personally I had no problems at all with my P5Q Deluxe.

No issues here either with my p5q deluxe, id heard of possible issues with ocz ram, found them to be unwarranted. I currently run 4gb ocz reaper without any problems, even went as far as borrowing a few different ocz kits from others to try in the board, and they all worked fine. After coming from the nightmare that was 680i, ive never beeen so impressed with a mobo.

OCZ issues are not unwarranted, its on the OCZ Forums Stickies and its to do with Asus method of modding Bioses (so they claim) BS I say as the EVGA 680I also had issue according to them and its a Nvidia Ref Bios.

So 680I aside, every single Asus mobo from years back till now uses an Asus Modded bios (be it Award or other).

That's not to say everyone will get issues just I would not touch OCZ with a bargepole (I have had some) as I do not rate their Memory period and this is shared with many on XS forums.

Anyone here asks about Asus Mobo and OCZ Memory, I will warn them it can act up.

I understand what you mean, not everyone will get lucky with asus and ocz. Back in the days of s939 i couldnt get ocz ram to work correctly on 3 various versions of the a8n series boards, eventually had to use corsair. On my current board ive been fine with ocz, but as you say not everyone will have issues.

I would go for the Gigabyte EP P45-UD3R.

Asus make good boards but this is why Gigabyte are better.

1) It's Cheaper.
2) It will do exactly the same job, infact better when using Quad 45nm CPU's IF overclocking to it's maximum potential.
3) It has a UK RMA base if anything goes wrong takes a few days were as Asus RMA takes 6-8 weeks.
4) The Gigabyte UD3 series are shipped with the latest chipset Revision A3 as opposed to Asus's A2 Revision.
5) Engineer/Tech Official support from Gigabyte via Gigabyte Official Forum @ Tweaktown + Gigabyte UK Forum

Gigabyte 5 - 0 Asus lol :p
