All over the world...
Hi all,

Just recently got a Blackberry bold handset and wanted to get it insured so was wondering if anyone knew of a decent insurance company that would insure the phone. Obviously i would need lost, theft and accidental damage cover along with any extras.

So anyone have any good companies in mind?

I would see if you household contents insurance could be modified to cover it, as standalone insurance for things like phones, is generally daylight robbery.

Household contents can sometimes accomodtae things like expensive jewlery that you wear outside, so its probs worth a call to see if they will cover you....if they offer cover for it then I am pretty sure it will be a more competetive rate than a standalone policy for the blackberry.

Talkcover do standalone insurance policies, works out £71 (12 months cover) for a Bold and the excess is around £30.
To me it doesn't seem worth it unless you think you're likely to lose/break it.

£71 + £30 excess isn't bed

My contents insurance is under £200 per year (I am very over covered, I could probably get down to ~£120 per year if I got rid of the accidental damage cover) and that also covers various specified items outside the home....£70 just for a phone seems pretty steep to me

it depends what you're covered for tbh
some contents insurance wont cover your phone while it's outside the home, some wont cover water damage specifically, some just have really high excess fees.

without accidental damage cover, what would be the point of having a phone insured? most claims I see on phone insurance are because of accidental damage, usually a broken screen.

Could try the store or retailer you bought the phone from for insurance? However I'd avoid Marsh insurance like the plague. I believe they are used for Vodafone and O2 insuance.

Just going to resurrect this thread. I'm just getting my Omnia repaired after it refusing to charge (costing about £70) and since my contract has a long while to run yet I really should get it insured should it get broken again.

Any other recommendations other than Talkcover?
