We need a war.

A nuke nowadays would blow the whole earth to bits. If it doesn't...the radiation will.

no and no. there's still a few large nukes about. But the days of large nukes have long since died. They are now smaller more tactical nukes. It would take a lot, even of the large ones to destroy the world and to irradiate it. Have you seen how many nuclear tests there have been. A lot of them in the atmosphere and not under ground.

:/

Just no...

(I know this sis an almost scary repeat of history but...) I doubt there's enough fissile material in the world to create a blast so powerful as to overcome the effects of a planets mavity.

The planet is nowhere near overcrowed. With current technology The planet can sustain many times the population we have now...

More illogical thinking and scaremongering.

Very true, I for one look forward to our concrete planet, with only humans, rats and bacteria living on it....

(that is except the animals and plants we use as food, that will probably spend their life in buildings akin to battery farms now...)

Yes there is space on earth, doesn't mean we should destroy the planet so we can breed more.

it's going to happen. Or more likely we will start living underground so you still have countryside. Lots of possibilities and solutions. World wide we have hardly touched landmass. Even in England there's is loads of open fields compared to large cities.

An interesting point.

Should we draconianly limit our numbers by refusing to give resources? Should we destroy more wildlife for commercial farming purposes? Should we enhance our crop production by promoting GM food stuffs? Even then, at what limit can those techniques be useful?

There isn't a clear answer.

funniest post i have read in erm...well ever on here, no nuke EVER made would blow the Earth to bits, hell not even close. the 50 Megaton Tsar Bomb (biggest explosive device ever detonated) would proberbly level most of greater London, but wouldn't do anything to the integrity of the planet, even if we got every nuke ever made and placed them (so they covered entire surface) you still wouldn't damage the planet too much, sure you'd wipe out everything living on the surface but the crust would be relatively undamaged :p

and this thread, what the hell is wrong with you people? sorry but 99% of the posts here are shocking and just damned wrong, how the **** is the Earth becoming too 'crowded', the human race occupies only a tiny percentage of the Earths landmass, there is PLENTY more room to expand into, and there is always building up, not all high rises have to look like those atrocities from the 70s. just to sum up how i feel about this thread, how about not posting damned right Nazi-style things and post something that could help the world, not **** it up

vertical farming. Almost limitless food production.

except there's so much space we could basically tribble out numbers and still keep whole continents as wild life preserves.

Why? everything else is. and it wont destroy the planet nothing we or any other living thing can do will destroy it.

People who think the planet should stay as it is now are retarded, the planet never changes only the life that resides upon it.

1. Plenty of space
2. Help the economy? Dont even get me started..it wouldn't.
3. There are other methods of population control... drunks bottling each other, the impending legalisation of chav hunting, natural disasters, osama ... so no I dont think we need any more death.

then, there comes the sand people, who lives with the sand.

I am guessing that mose people on here have political views that lean to the right slightly ?

It's quite difficult to tell, the left leaning side claim that it's a very right wing dominated forum and the right leaners claim the exact opposite. Both sides having rather vocal supporters. I'd guess that you're right about the right due to the forum demographics but I don't think you'd get a wide consensus on this point or that it is a particularly noticeable leaning overall.

I think trying to define all persons view point with one theory is silly. there are hardly any people in this world who have one view point o everything. Common sense dictates everyone will have left and right wing views, and will disagree with the extremists of both.
