Thought I'd try something different :p

low exposure, 1/800 I think and ISO 80. Then just darkened it in PS.

And I took it a few days ago but only just realised it's potential with my tiredness :D

Im not sure that pointing a camera directly at the sun is a good idea tbh. I may be talking rubbish, but won't the suns rays be focused like going through a magnifying glass onto the sensor. Mmm, toasted sensor.. my favourite. :p

The sensor was only exposed for 1/800 sec. More of a problem for the shutter, if at or near the plane of focus.

:D

I was wondering if using a 10 stop filter would get a good shot of the sun at say 300mm, not sure I want to try it though even if those filters are generally used for shooting very bright objects...

Don't look at the sun through your camera, even if you have a ND filter on. The ND filter will stop a lot of light, but will still let through UV rays which can toast your eyes.
