Why I hate vista...

Vista looks nothing like OS X. Saying that is a bit like saying some fat bloke looks a little like Jeri Ryan of Seven of Nine fame. :(

I understand where BBX is coming from.

The icons and whatnot in Vista are far more cartooney than previous versions of Windows, and much more like the OSX dock.

She's still a daft wotsit though :p

but dont for a second think that Vista is a better operating system. That is my point. Linux is pants for gaming, but pretty much accross the board better at everything else.

Its really not, it doesn't run a vast amount of the software that a lot of businesses need to use on a daily basis, and its a completely different interface than what, at least 95% of people are used to.

Its great for niche roles, being a server, a firewall, err....Java development :p things like that where someone who actually likes using it and knows how it works gets to fiddle with it.

Windows is great, no actually better, for any other role, that wont be filled by a Linux nut. Its familiar, all the software developers write their programs for it, everyone knows how to use it, and it just works, straight out of the box without fuss.

Well we Sir disagree

TBH a bad workman blames his tools, I have installed vista on around 10 systems no problem, I have a few niggly things I don't like about vista. But stability wise and general running it has been perfect on all 10/11 systems i've put put it on. (not all my systems).

Linux is pants really it is, tried Ubuntu not too long ago to get an idea as to what the OS offers and wow it was a major challenge just installing programs, didn’t get along with it at all seemed very rubbish.

My Vista64 PC never crashes, ever. It is on all the time every day, it is only ever restarted after Patch Tuesdays or gfx driver updates.

I frown at people who fail @ Vista.

unless you turn it off.

You can't turns it "off" as when set to off Windows will still use a pagefile. Windows /needs/ a pagefile to operate.
