SARCOS half human half robot i want one

Looks awesome. Wouldn't you still get physically tired though, seeing as you have to move your arms/legs anyway?

Just curious if this could be used to run really fast, as well as delivering really powerful kicks/punches.

i dont understand this? How can it know how much power he wants to use? If it can lift huge weigh with not much effort by the human, why wont it crush the football when he catches it?

I guess thats why i'm not on the development team :)

Probbaly cause he doesn;t keep pressing on the foot ball, as the heavyer omthing is the harder his hands will press on the sensor, so it increases it;s power till the pressure from his hand reduces to a certain limit.

Thats what i thot at first. But to be able to have such a big range (holding football -> lifting weights) he'd need to be pressing so hard on the sensor that he may as well be lifting the stuff himself?

Old water powered forge hammers could rest on an egg without cracking the shell or smash a piece of iron into shape, i'm not surprised with all the modern technology involved in that that they can give it such good control. Probably has a few sensors in the handle grip so probably down to the user as well.

Nah it ill react very quickly, and so lifts off from him quickly, so he only has to apply constant light pressure.

But applying constant light pressure would mean he bursts the football then? Unless he pulls his hands away...and drops it :S

Looks like servo motors? Never associated small electric motors with high efficiency and hence decent power, large ones are very effecient generally. Must have some excellent motor design to do this!

Pnumatic would still be stronger and faster most likely, but far more difficult to control. Don't be thinking this has the speed or agility of a person, just additional power for a limited range of moves. Some people could sortof do this anyhow (freefaller? :p). Not the 500 repetitions, but the machine couldn't with its portable power either. Impressive technology nonetheless.

no constant light pressure would increase power ie for lifting heavy things, once he;s got the foot ball he doesn;t keep pressing he just holds his hands still. the machine moves away untill it reaches a pressure limit which is set to tell it to just hold still.

again this is just how ithink it may work might be different.
