So who is off bargain shopping at Woolworths today?

If there really was a bargain to get at Woolies then yes.

But alas, it's the same parp they've been selling for years and it's nowhere near as discounted as those massive posters claim.

It's not a bargain if I can still get half of the parp they sell cheaper elsewhere :(

The only thing I will look for is some cheap/reduced chocolates for Christmas, if I can be assed and its not too busy. The rest is as Nikebee has said above.

The local one to me for the past week has just been infested with chavs looking to save the odd quid off some old piece of tatt. You also can't move because of all the prams and idiots stood everywhere.

I had a good look in there a couple of days ago. The 'upto 50% off' signs are a bit misleading. Anything that's worth having only has 10% off. Their over-priced games which are mostly still at their release-day price have 10% off. Also all the consoles/bundles have 10% off but you can still get better deals online. The best offers I could see were things like microwaves and kettles that had 20% but again I don't doubt that you can find just as good or better deals elsewhere when it suits you rather than buying something in a panic because it might be sold out soon.

Any real bargains, the staff would have put under the counter ;)

Also as said already.. the place will be brimmed with chavs and pushchairs after picking up their dole money that it's like a minefield.

No thanks..

Meh. Can't be bothered with the hassle of it. Always found woolies shopping a chore anyway.

Oh, and the high-horse moral police have brightened up my day, cheers :D

Ant ;cool:

Yeah the Profit losses are making sense of it all, but a friend i know who uses **** Business (which operates COMPETITOR and also COMPETITOR) for his equipment at work has heard about the bosses of the COMPETITOR & COMPETITOR chain called in the Administrators. But apparently its not for finiancial reasons that it was stated.

Read the FAQ about competitors.

A couple of days ago they weren;t having a closing down sale though. Just heard on the news at one shop, the queue for the till is 120 long and people and loaded up with stuff and many shelves already empty so I reckon they are knocking much more than 10-20% off stuff today.

You'll need to wait until like literally the last day when the shelves are bare. They'll almost be paying you take stuff away.

I don't think they will be anything left by then. I heard this morning a manager saying they hadn;t had new deliveries for weeks so could see the collapse coming so I reckon they don;t have much stock in.

And with reports that many shelves (high value stuff) are already empty by lunchtime, I can't see there been anything left by the weekend (worth buying that is)

Walked by my Woolies today, the "Up To 50% Off" signs have all been taken down, as have all promotional material by the looks of it.

Couldn't be bothered to go in there though, looked a little too busy for my half hour lunch time :p

Finish work at 5 though, so might have a gander down there then.

sounds dishonest.
Property is theft :p

The big supermarket are already eyeing up potential ex Woolworths sites. All I can say is tescos should be bared from buying any of them. Sounds like any ideal opportunity to redress the balance and weaken tescos monopoly on the retail sector.

Tescos wouldn't go for where the Woolies is situated here tbh.

Not nearly enough storage and/or easy access for delivery trucks.

I'd imagine that would be the case with a great number of Woolworths stores sites, as most are situated right smack in the middle of a town.

That said, I'd certainly welcome a Tescos in our town. Would certainly beat the pants off the Somerfield we have now, which is soon to be Co-Op or so I hear?

just been on our local news saying that people were in yesterday and came back today, not really noticing the difference in price. lots walking out empty handed.
lots of items without the original price sticker to show how much you really are saving.

The real bargains will be on there last day, when they have to reduce it to empty the shop. But by then most stuff people want will be gone. But you might find something hidden or something you want which is not popular. Any idea when there last day of trading will be.
