What's the catch?? BMW 318d

Because people argue that the throttle control inputs from the computer account for less mpg than yours due to the fact it can't see the road up ahead like you can.

Tbh i hardly notice any difference with mine and even if it did over a long trip the advantages are far greater than the slight mpg loss.

great! decreases your MPG too!

I think this has become less of an issue with modern cruise control and anyway when I'm clocking over 60MPG on a long motorway run I'm not going to cry over 0.5MPG for the convenience of cruise. Even the misses loves it and hates going back to her car without it!

Using the needle on the dash: if i try to keep at 70mph, it shows less mpg than if i let the cruise do it.
there are times where manual control makes sense, but on reasonably straight roads it would be fine.

if you were doing a lot of up and down hill driving then cruise control will be worse in terms of mpg, but if you're just flying along on reasonably flat motorways then it should be pretty much the same as manual

only time I ever find cruise useful is in specs controlled areas, other that that I find it a pain to use

That is an out and out lie I regularly drive hundreds of miles on the UK's motorways and 90% of the time cruise is on, hell I use it every day on the dual carrigeway into the office. I suggest your using it wrong ;)

I'd love to see you call me a liar to my face.

Cruise is great at night on empty motorways & dual carriageways. In the day when theres lots of traffic and more to the point, a lot more potential hidden dangers,
In My Humble Opinion,

its far better to have cruise off. :p

I too drive many many miles on the UK's roads, please PM me your reg and I'll keep a sharp look out for you whilst letting the cruise drive the truck...... ;) :p

New cruise control on new BMW's is pretty cool. It's like playing with a Playstation. You can brake with it too, progressively or hard if you pull the level back hard.

I do miss cruise control on my ST.

i thought you guys just kept your foot to the floor and let the limiter do its job :p

Actually it was an attempt to throw in a "cruise" joke into the topic, which clearly failed :p

OR DID IT!
