Preorder PC Games Fraud Warning

Just a quick headsup. If like me you preorder your PC games from a well known high st specialist check your credit cards status. In the space of 2 days 2 of my cards have both been cancelled after the card companies said that they believe this well known companies website has been compromised by fraudsters so they are cancelling 1000s of cards as a precaution. As the post is slow this time of year it may take you up to a week to find out:eek:
 
Can you give us a clue as to which company this might be? I know hinting at competitors is against the rules, but this is quite an important issue and I'm sure most would welcome the info.
 
Because of the forum rules here not aloud to say am I as I could get suspended!!

Have you got a proper source for this information? I can't find anything on any of the popular news sites on the web, and I've checked a few IT-related sources too with no info. Surely if it has been going on for at least two days, it would be well publicised by now?

Secondly, is the name the short one, or the longer named high-street chain as there are two big companies that have similar names? I ask because the shorter named one has another webstore that is based in the same place, that I order from all the time, and I've bought some stuff from them recently but am still awaiting the arrival of it all. It isn't usual for them to take so long, but it could also obviously be Royal Fail that's holding it all up.

I only found out because my preorder got cancelled then spoke to my card company fraud dept and they told me it has affected 1000s of people up and down the country they suspect either that company has been hacked or someone has compromised the card details stored. So today feeling confident it cannot happen twice can it I put in the details of my other card and within a few hours I am speaking to another card company fraud dept who say they are seeing high levels of fraud at the moment from this website. Lot of people may not realise as unless they check their emails for cancellations the post is slower so it can take up to a week before you get a letter but you may find your card has been cancelled in the meantime. The method they are using is a very low value transaction on Napster or itunes for less than a pound so it may not even show up on your statement. This is a test to see if the card is valid before they make a bigger purchase.
