Today, the Pound Sterling took a devastating blow as it is recorded as record Euro low. £1 now trades at €1.1236. With the financial crises showing no indication of stopping, quite evidently taking its toll on major retail chains such as Woolworths, and banks such as Halifax.
Would now be a good time to join the Euro? We'd be the laughing stock of Europe as we previously slated the idea of joining the Euro. But pride aside, would it save our economy?
My personal opinion is we should brave it out until this Credit Crunch is showing signs of diminishing. Then if the government play it strategically, the Pound Sterling should bounce back strong again.
If a Don could add a poll "Should the UK join the Euro?" with the following options that would be great:
Yes - We should join as soon as possible.
Yes - We should join in the next few years.
Yes - We should join at some point in the next few decades.
No - We should never join the Euro.
