I'm looking at taking a cheap escape over Christmas to do some skiing, i've been looking to go to Val Thorens for a couple of years so I think now is the time.

I've just been lookingat cheap chalet deals and a few have came up, i'm not sure which one to take though. I've got the following to choose from and would appreciate any input from people who have been there ion the past (Paradigm?)

Chalet *********
Chalet Elaine
Chalet Chardon Bleu
Chalet Des Neiges ii
Chalet Fabrice

Any input or information on Val Thorens would be good too. :)

Can't help you on the resorts as I can't remember where I stayed, but I can tell you Val Thorens is great. I loved it! It's a fair bit higher up than many of the other towns, so the snow tends to be better, even late into the season. There are loads of a really nice slopes, and if you get bored you only have to take a few lifts over the mountains and your can get into Meribel or Courchevel. Nightlife is pretty decent as well. Id love to go back again sometime. :)

Agree with Kahn. Sooo much to do in the 3 valleys.

The view from the top of one of the lifts last year. Just wish I'd had a better camera.

Gutted that I can't afford to go this season but I'll definately go back there again. Will try and think of some useful advice today and post back later.

Paradigm and I have stayed at Le Cheval Blanc twice, we like it their, it's nothing special but fairly comfortable.

The room rates also include the lift pass at a slightly discounted rate.

I cannot go this year as my friends getting married in January but Paradigm and a few of our friends are still heading over so perhaps catch him for the latest info on the resort.

Oh, I think I know where that is. Is that a black slope half way down the picture, infront of you? If it is the one i think it is, half way down the black run, there is a small track off to the right. We ended up building a jump half way down when I went. :)

Only one of the chalets I've ever looked into was the "Chalet Chardon Bleu". Looked superb, but (as tesla said) staying in Le Cheval Blanc (or Le Village Montana) makes more sense, especially for a last minute cheap getaway.

You spend zip all time in your room/accomodation as it is, so why not just go somewhere that is "ok". We are paying something daft like £300 for the room, and a 6-day three vallees lift pass, which quite frankly, is dirt cheap!

My dads got a timeshare in Avoriaz, in the alps. And this is great for skiing :D

Are you a confident skiier neil-ste? Ive been skiing since i was 5 :p
