As title is it worth paying the extra £50-100 for an LCD or will a pc monitor with the VGA cable be ok? Only problem I suppose is HDTV on the monitor or am I wrong?

Cheers.

What resolution does the HDTV run at? My 20" monitor runs at 1680x1050, so not good enough for 1080p but good enough for 720p (however the xbox 360 now supports my resolution of 1680x1050 so I run at that resolution and games look sweet). I also use the offical VGA cable.

I would say a TV as games will be rendered at 720p and due to the native res of a television, less scaling will need to occur. I played my PS3 on a 20" monitor for a while, it looked ok i guess, but i prefer my HDTV in every way.

yeah its for a pc and the xbox360 and looking for something relatively cheap.

are the newer monitors wall mountable usually? One with DVI and vga would be the perfect option.

If its for gaming, generally the TN panels are better in response times and lag than tha SVPA type HD TV's. Only downside is colours arn't as good and the viewing angles can be narrow.

Most tv's that size are 1680/1050 res anyway so you might as well save money and get a monitor.

Er... what are you on about?

Most "720p" TVs are 1366*768 and pretty much all 1080p sets are 1920*1080. There are also some funny resolutions such as rectangular pixel based plasma screens at 1024*768 etc.
