Hi guys, I've played PES on the ps2 and FIFA on the 360, thinking about buying one of these later today? Which would you recommend? I found FIFA better visually, but pes better for gameplay. Is this still the case?

Thanks

People's favourite footy games are as contentious as their favourite consoles, round these parts :)

I think you can get demos for both on PS3, so download both and make up your own mind.

I would say FIFA personally - both arent perfect, its just that PES seems to have plateaued (or some would say going backwards) while FIFA actually seems to be trying to become a very good football game...

BAP is one of the best modes Ive played in a football game full stop...

I'll get in here before this thread kicks off

I was a pes fanboy, until IMO they ruined it

Fifa 09 is way from perfect, but again IMO it's better than its PES rival, and has been for 2 years now

PES 4 / 5 best footy games

I used to play PES while i was using the PS2, but after playing both demos I decided that I would go to FIFA, I found it to be a more 'realistic' game which is what i prefer to the more arcade feel of PES, but you should definately try them yourself as said above.

FIFA, without a doubt, I don't even consider PES a competitor as FIFA is superior to it in every way.

And FIFA is far, far from perfect.

Definitely FIFA for a football game its just the best this time round. And it doesn't have an annoying noise every time you kick/pass/touch the ball.

Definitley FIFA, Having played both i can honestly say PES is awfull. What gets me is that "most" PES fanboys claim PES is the most realistic football game and FIFA is no where near, but as you can see from some of the posts here that is far from true and they are just stuck in that "mine is better than yours" and wont give 5 minutes to FIFA to see they were wrong.

If you buy FIFA you will not regret it, a much more realistic, fun and full game. They have the licences for almost all the leagues (including championship/div1/div2 etc) Proper Team Names, Kits, Logos... a reasonable amount of the stadiums (major teams and national some 20 in total about).

For me the simple fact about the kits logos team names player names etc is a REAL downer.... the game just doesnt feel "right".

Anyway the choice is yours, i recommend you try both but the demo isnt much to go off the FIFA demo was pretty poor to be honest but i knew the game would be brilliant and it was/is, my most played game for sure.... PES i played full game.. its worth a go but wouldnt sway my decision.

I agree with the post above, got rid of pes a week after I bought it as fifa was just more enjoyable. The license does make a massive difference. Its not perfect but as a game it has lots of pluses that outweigh any of the negatives.

horses for courses but I see a trend with all the posts so far ;)

ps3ud0 have you tried the BAL on pes? It far out classes BAP in every way. Can go on for more seasons, a lot harder making it more interesting to develop your player etc. There is no way anyone could disagree with the fact that BAP vs BAL, Bal wins every time.

With a USB stick it takes 2 minutes to update all the kits, teams, stadiums and cup names on pro, so it is not an issue.

I had Fifa till they day of release of Pro and couldn't wait to get rid. The game is slow, far to easy and boring. Pro is the better game in my eyes.

Of course though this is the 11022392103403420324 thread on pro vs fifa. So test them both and see which you like best.

Cheers mate, Ive not tried a recent PES outside of the demo so might pick it up just for BAL as I do love BAP a lot...

Might pick up the PC version though...
